F**k him out maybe it'll be a wake up call to some of the others and instead of complaining when Staunton develops the balls to actually shift some of the s**t maybe it makes more sense to back him. I for one don't think it weakens the squad if Kenny was to be replaced by Logan or Supple which is surely what matters the most. If Staunton continues on this course we might get JOS and Kilbane out of the squad also to be replaced by some potentially good young talent. Or would you criticise him for that as well?
Hate to say this but I agree with ye! I wouldn't be shedding any tears if Kenny was dropped but only if he was dropped for promising keepers such as Logan and Supple.
Colgan? He's the definition of journeyman and doesn't merit being anywhere near the squad. I'd even have Stack there instead of him because at least he has youth on his side...

I live in Lincoln and the press are constantly raving about Frecklington up here. He's just signed a new contract, when i went to see them play, he stood out by a mile, i think the lad has talent.

I honestly don't think Kenny could be singled out for the Cyprus game, dropping him makes no sense especially if the replacement is Colgan.

Andy O'Brien has been one of Irelands most consistent players in the last 2 years, him & Dunne were rocks in Stuttgart, yes he had a shocker against Cypurs but don't drop him unless we have someone to replace him with.

    From Irish Times online:

Staunton has afforded Kenny time off to aid his recovery from a string of niggling injuries and to also deal with personal issues.

Some shocking omissions and inclusions. Typical of Stauntons reign. No consistency. It's gonna be a long four years.

I don't see what's to be gained by the inclusion of the like of Stokes, Billy Clarke, arguably Keogh, for me anybody under 21. I really don't. They're playing with players they've never been exposed to and probbly won't ever again. They have platforms in their respective age groups and so their taking up valuable space in a limited platform. I mean bar a few of them, Hunt, McPhail, Emanual, they're all 21 or there about. I'd rather see quinn and lee dropped to the B squad for a full game. Or take a look at the like of Tabb, David Bell. I thought the whole point was to GIVE A PLATFORM FOR THOSE CURRENTLY WITHOUT ONE!!!!!!!! Snappin

There are alot of youngish players who have every right to feel agreived. What was his criteria for selction? Standard?? Experience??

Never heard of yer man Emanuel but as a young left back with so much experience is definately worth a look.

Still snappin over the B squad. .. Mark my words it's gonna be like an England friendly. Way too many substitutions. Players won't be on long enough to form a substantiated opinionon. Some of them won't even get off the bench. Gonna be an utter waste of time. Harrumph!!!

I'm just praying we see something worth while from McPhail (He's gonna be like Micheal Jackson in there he's surrounded by that many kids) or the new left full.

But what if the best underage players are the best of those outside the senior squad? Personally I felt all along that the best, but only the best, U21s should be looked at to see if they can play above that level. But Randolph's inclusion is odd.

And when do the U21s play next anyway?

Sometimes I think they make some wild-card selections just so they can say "hey, at least we know what's out there".

I hope Paddy McCarthy plays a stormer.

greendeiseboy - That's the thing, Tabb is a Coventry sub atm. All the midfielders in the squad are more deserving of a place, bar O'Brien who is slowly being faded out I presume. Actually, just noticed Frecklington is a midfielder. Tabb can certainly feel hard done by if he's in competition for his place. Lincoln are in league 2 and he has started 20 league games in his career.[/QUOTE]

mc shane - either a sub or not on panel - had one good game for us - why cant he get into a championship team if he's supposed to be so good

andy o brien - ditto - got his first start last week and was crap

aiden mcgeady - sub - ok recovering from injury but still on bench

john o'shea - now an almost permanent sub

s ireland - where has he gone

s elliot - injured as far as i know - dont think he's good enough anyway

    c morrison - where do i start

j o cearuill - who? what? when and where?

alan o'brien - on missing persons posters all over newcastle

tell me now Tabb dosent warrant inclusion.

I'm not saying they're not the best of the rest by any stretch. I'm saying we'll learn as much from them playing with their own peirs as we would playing in a B international squad where the large majority of them are 21 anyway, so there's little to be gained by there inclusion in this case. I keep saying this but they have a platform and a medium to the internnational set up already. Cases can be argued for some like Ward maybe or Keogh, but look at the majority of the squad?? I mean are we really see the best of McPhail if he's surrounded by inexperience.

Surely you would rather see 90 minutes of Alan Lee, Jay Tabb, Rowlands et al.

The back four will hopefully be worth a look, assuming he starts who I think will start but you just never know.

    Supple

    Foley
    Sledger
    McCarthy
    Emanuel

    Potter
    Gamble
    McPhail
    Hunt

    Stokes
    Ward

Interesting enough if he was to go with something like that. Definitely something to learn from plenty of those players so wouldn't call it a waste by any means. BTW would prefer Potter at CM but not too sure if there's any RM in that squad?

yeah, i live in this area too and Frecklington was actually on loan at Stamford Town, who are my local Dr. Martens Prem side last season, he excelled here (he would need to to aspire to league football never mind international football, but thats another arguement). ive seen him play several times for Stamford and twice for Linclon City also.

he went back off his loan and kicked on in the Lincoln side and began hitting goals from midfield, he started very well this season also and the word is that Reading are the most recent side tracking him. dont know if he will make the move up the leagues or not, but he is certainly attracting the interest at present.

this inclusion almost certainly stems from Stauntons employing John Deehan as lower league scout, they know each other from their time at villa and Deehan is currently the director of football at Lincoln City.

Roy O'Donovan has played right wing all season for City but has scored 7 goals in 6 games since being moved up front.

Dr. Peepee, it's a tough one. Lee probably deserves his place in the senior squad for his height & strength, and we should remember that there is a senior game the next day, even if it is only San Marino. Same about Alan Quinn.

I hear what you're saying about McPhail but you could also say that we're better off looking at him actually playing than being a sub (at best) on the Wednesday. Equally, the less experienced B midfielders could use McPhail's experience.

In any naming of 40+ players for duty there'll always be some that are debatable, but it's the absolute outliers that have me scratching my head.

Glenn Whelan is a notable omission too.

greendeiseboy, several of your questions have been answered on foot.ie in recent threads.

Ah yeah missed him there. He'd defo be worth a run given our lack of options on the right. See what he can do.

    .
Whelan has not been getting his game during Sheff Weds decent run of late. Is he injured maybe or just lack of form?

Surprised there is no sign of Shane Long, is he injured or something?

Yes he does. A Coventry sub isn't good enough for Ireland though so he needs to be getting games.

Nope, biggest shock of them all. No Geary, Doyle, Tabb, Flood, Noel Hunt. All of whom have legitimate claims

Ah damn. Was that for the B squad or main squad? He doesn't seem like the type to me that would travel so far to play a B match. He doesn't seem to be really bothered about playing for Ireland at all tbh.
