iv nothing on saturday....id go to Flancare to cheer on Longford with my Sligo Rover shirt
On Ocean FM this morning: “An Emergency meeting was held at the club last night & the official statement was as far as They are concerned that Sean is still our contracted manager (12 months remaining) and they fully expect him to be in charge tonight”, they speculate that Fenlon could be going to Bohs & that Our wanŔer is of to Shels. Fu(k the lot of them! Regardless.
So Seans gone. Its unfortunate he didnt build on this season as I believe next season would have been the real test for him as a manager.
Good luck thanks for the memories and now lets move on.
No one man is bigger than Sligo Rovers no matter what he achieves (and I do not agree with our fans going to support any other side ,as is the talk of lads going to Longford)
Whats importanat now is what happens next for the club?
In my opinion a few things need to happen.
This merry go round of appointing foreign managers has to stop if the club is to progress on the pitch and challenge for honours. We have seen it with McStay,Sanchez,Cotterill,Reid and now Connors. All come to serve their apprenticeship, make it abundantly clear this is a stepping stone and will be moving on. Maybe they will not get managers jobs but they will always get a good coaching post if they do any way decent at the club.
The club needs to put in place a proper interview process and interview panel for the next manager. Not simply 3-4 MC mebers selcting one , we need a proper knowledgable panel.Bring in people like Gerry Cassidy, McStay, Niall Harrison people who know football.
We need to appoint an Irish manager.Look at the facts , anyone who wins anything in the LOI have an Irish manager thsi has ben the case down through the years,Turlough O Connor,Noel King,Dermot Keely, Damien Richardson,Pat Dolan,Stepehen Kenny etc...
All the top teams at present Shels,Derry,Drogheda,Cork,Pats all have Irish managers.Gives clubs stability.
For my tuopance worth only man for us is Pat Dolan.Yeah I know all about his setanta and CL commentaary but at least exhaust the option and seee what may come from it.He is a big personality and has the experience and I beleive we are the perfect club for him.
Other options would be Alan Mathews, not doing too well this saeson but proven himself over last 3 seasons.May be perfect time to try and get him.
Others Scully or Richardson...
Adios Sean ....
not going to support any other team..(and I do not agree with our fans going to support any other side ,as is the talk of lads going to Longford)
gerry cassidy signed most of the players who got us where we are but sean connor got em playing long balls to mansaram & mct, 2 players who have yet to win a header in senior football. foyzer was the only player sean connor signed from the eL and he makes sure every1 knows it. keith foy, arguably the fattest professional footballer every, has gone from being an early season legend to be a lazy rubbish b*stard: good man management. choice aisien and matthew judge are 30 goal a season strikers so were gonna give sum1 a right thumpin in the next 4 games. chris turner's destined for the top that's why sean connor left him at right back and held on for a massive point v waterford in the showgrounds which effectively ended our season. sean connor will never sign for another eircom league club and he's here for the long haul to make a long term impact on the club. raf was lookin for 9% of €12000 budget: another whopping lie. i'm grateful for the two years we've had under sean but he's a lyin b*stard of a media wh*re who's current & ex players don't rate as a manager
"Even if the sun ceases to rise, Even if the sea ceases to flow, Even if the wind stops to blow, The name of Sligo Rovers will shine and shine forever like the morning, glinting star in the sky."
Ah, c'mon, Redeva, get down off the fence and tell us what you really think.
