Lads thanks for the welcome, ground was certainly full (possibly a bit too full in the away stand) but the atmosphere excellent. Good game of football to boot.

    A couple of negatives:
    1) the pitch. It was very, very poor. Is a lot of football played on it outside of Rovers games? The recent weather played a part in it cutting up but the bobble was unreal. Pitches have improved immensely in the League in the last 10 years and the Showgrounds just isn't good enough.

    2) Advertising a euro/pound exchange rate in the away end refreshment shop and not taking coins!! Either take Euro only or set a reasonable exchange rate. A 40-45% mark up is not reasonable and is way in excess of costs.

    Good Point "OneRedArmy".
There very rarely is any games on the main pitch apart from Rovers senior games. The u-21s now use the all weather pitch which is located beside where ye came in. The simple fact is that the pitch is not for football. It is a field. Although the ground staff do work hard to have it in good condition it is no where near good enough for top class football.. Managers have already complained this year inclucing Pat Fenlon and Sean Connor. The pitch in Derry is a football pitch with one of the best surfaces for playing football in Ireland( Prob why ye have such a good home record), Rovers need this type of surface on which to play good football. We have a good footballing team you might agree. Aswell as this the shop maybe should have been like the tuck shop in the main stand in Derry where everything is accepted at a very reasonable rate!!!!

    One Red Army

The banks dont take sterling coins down south (the reverse is true for us up north) so why should the club as they would not have been able to shift them.

Just a tip but any pass machine in the town would have given you EURO on Sunday.

True but the club had a sign up advertising the exchange rate 1euro=1pound which was a rip off for the Derry fans in fairness!
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

I work for a bank so I'm well aware of what they do and don't take.

It was the combination of no coins and the exhorbitant exchange rate that I object to. Your doing noone a favour by bumping up prices by 45%. Should have insisted on euros.

Absolutely agree regarding the exchange rate complete rip off.

Just thought you lads would be well use to get some Euro before or during heading south for trips.

Whats it like at the other grounds when you go to Cork, Dublin etc re exchange rate ?

If its any consolation, not that it will get you any money back, the club messed up with the loyal local support as well over seating in the main stand.

So as to not get banned from here for bad language lets just say the club couldnt organise a drunk night in a brewery.

Good luck in the final.........never want to see Dub clubs win anything.........especially Molloy.

it was far from a riot, just 2 lads with the handbags out. some fella started a 'whats it like to have a queen' chant and then the lads at the back started spewing some ****e about we are all one country and something like that. they we'r acting the big man until the fella who started the chant went fukn mental with them and there wer lots of shapes been thrown and handbags been sharpened but it fizzled out into jack sh!t in the end.

not that i dont agree with the whole 32 counties and all that, but like the chant was just a bit of banter and cause derry are as irish as you and me i dont see the reason to be so sensitive about the whole issue. it was just a laugh.
