That would be a great move for St Ledger.

If Dunne is leaving City - Could it be a case of Dunne or St Ledger. Hardly both?

Didn't Moyes rule out a bid for Dunne earlier in the summer? Villa are apparently after him anyway but Taylor and Distin have been strongly mentioned too.

Everton are a cash-strapped club and unless Dunne is involved as a swap in the deal for Lescott then it is unlikely.

St Ledger is the perfect type of David Moyes player - under-rated, not too expensive and a great work-rate. It's a win-win situation if he goes to Goodison.

That doesnt make sense as Dunne would be no more expensive than SSL at £5m if the papers/posts on here are to be believed on the 2 players valuations?

Surely it would be down to whether Moyes rates Dunne above/below SSL as a signing?

They're going to get 24million for Lescott, hardly going to be cash strapped after that?

Because of Man City's poor defence Dunne is a valuable player and would certainly be worth more than £5 million.

Man City's defence is anything but poor.

Compared to the attack it is, and their vision is of being a top four team, the current defence wouldn't do at a top six team.

Comparing it to their attack has nothing to do with it.

Last season they conceded 2 less goals than Aston Villa, who finished 6th. City's defence was much improved in the second half of last season- they conceded 22 goals in 19 games, which I think is pretty good. Add the fact that they have improved their defence in the summer I think it is fine.

What I'm saying is their attack would get them into the top four, their defence wouldn't.

...which I've pointed out is irrelevant to the discussion.

Bridge won the title twice with Chelsea
Toure's never finished outside the top four
Given's been the best keeper outside the top four teams for ages

    Bridge is past it
Toure plays at one of the biggest clubs in the world
Given is brilliant, he could get them into top four on his own

My point is that City have bought defenders who can get them into the top four

A look at their defenders on the old reliable and I think they need one more top class defender to seriously challenge the top four.

SSL is a few years younger, which might influence his choice, if he is in fact considering them both.

I don't think he was ever interested in Dunne.
