That United ban on Cantona was put there to try to head off the FA from giving him a season long ban or something ridiculous. Plus it gave Fergie the ammo he needed to attack the FA when they did impose a more severe ban on Cantona by saying that 'United had already dealt with it white noise white noise', the typical garbage that comes out of that mans mouth.

Back to Wednesday though, I remember when the board sacked Francis, stating that a new manager with fresh ideas was needed to take the club that extra mile, and then they hired David Pleat of all people. I also remember realising at that moment that I may have made a mistake becoming attached to Wednesday

What a day today. Take the lead at Coventry. Then score an o.g. and have two players sent off and lose 3-1. The joys of following the Owls

Honestly supporting both the Owls and Limerick is going to drive me to an early grave, all I'd need to finish me off is to become a Napoli supporter for Christs sake!

You'll have a lifetime waiting for trophies but it will be enjoyable nonetheless.

I see Barnsley have sacked Andy Ritchie who was on Wednesday's list of potential managers

What can I say, watching the Premiership years on Sky One has made me all nostalgic for the good old days

Maybe they could get the guys the FAI got and relegate Reading, Wigan, Watford, Fulham, Sheffield United and Portsmouth

Replace Portsmouth with Blackburn and we're in business. Throw the 6 spots available to Wednesday, Forest, Birmingham, Wolves, West Brom and Norwich and we'd have a model for the FAI to work on, and also a case to point to when they shaft UCD out of the Premier. Still lads it's for the greater Galway good so we'd better stop moaning about it.

Oh and I left Leeds out of the 6 on account of them being a shower of ****s

Birmingham? Fupp off man. Why in the name of God would you want a little club like that up? Derby... Burnley... Preston... even Leicester would be preferable.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

    Agreed

In fact there shouldn't be any Birmingham clubs in the Premiership

    Joke of a footballing town

Now now, Villa have had more success alone than the city of Sheffield combined.

Thats hardly Wednesday's fault, I'd look at that shower from Bramall lane for the cause of that.

Anyway I include Birmingham on account of them being the richest club in the Championship, and whilst they didn't get bailed out of relegation by an American (eh SLK) they could still offer a lot to the Premiership. Although that is assuming Bruce gets the push as a condition of promotion

Gotta love those Americans. And all Birmingham City have to offer the rest of the Premiership is a handy six points. They're a second tier club.

Well we all need a whipping boy, like Liverpool are to United, or Ringo was to the rest of his Beatles

I'd leave Sheffield United there for the Sheffield derby and bump the other 5 and bring back Wednesday, Wolves, Forest, Sunderland and Leicester and you'd have a proper Premership again with clubs with decent support.

Just as long as the second Sheffield derby that season is the game in which they get relegated back to where they belong I'll go along with that

Did you see Whelan's two goals against Southampton? Both class but the 2nd in particular was a volley from outside the box which was as good as anything you'd see in the Premiership.

I did indeed, as I told Lim til I die, I rate Whelan's second strike as high as Paul Scholes volley on the same day. Still even that was eclipsed by Crossley's stunning header!

All in all though we're looking good for the playoffs at the moment I think. The game away to Stoke was a real test of whether or not we can sustain this push and we passed it with flying colours. Can't believe I get to say this again but I'm optimistic about Wednesday's future!!!!
