I cocked up as well tried to delete my post as it's Jim Sherwin who is the sports commentatorand Jim Sheridan who is the film director.

Fingers crossed Owls get someone decent.

Thank Christ there's no Blades fans around to see us tripping up over our words. Still we could always bring up Waddle's screamer in the 93 Cup Semis again I suppose, I doubt that will ever get old!

I see Denis Wise has gone to Leeds. If Wednesday had got him, he would have been a Wise Owl

Latest betting is on Brian Laws.

Yeah I heard it's down to Robson, Megson and Craig Levin. although since Levin is gone to Dundee Utd it might just be down to Megson and Robson. Is this the first time that someone has gone to church and prayed for Gary Megson to take over their club?

Can you believe that result last night? Down twice and score in the 45th and 91st minutes to beat Palace. The team that has spent a generation conceding last minute goals turns the corner. If Carlsberg........

Tell me about it, I was flicking from the Champions League to Sky Sports every two minutes (annoyed the hell out of my brother ) and when I saw MacLean's goal go up I think I started that 'sit down mourinho' chant aimed at my brother, who oddly enough professed his liking for palace when they were 2-1 up....good times, now if only we can keep up this mini-run we are in and start moving up the table.

Heard this morning that it is now down to Brian Laws and Robson for the managers position, don't know what to believe in these rumours anymore, but I just know that Allen, tit that he is, is going to hire Robson because he thinks Robson will be able to get some big names here

BBC says Brian Laws gets the job.

Maybe he'll take some of the S'thorpe Irish up with him?

Laws for Wednesday and Sturrock for Swindon. Apparently, Sturrock has it in his contract should Weds approach him again he is free to join them without compensation to be paid to Swindon!
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls

I don't know about that, I was going to say why would we want him back after sacking him, but then again we are the club that gave him a new 4 year deal 3 weeks before sacking him

I would say Sturrock is holding out for someone to replace Allen as chairman. He wants to go back to Hillsborough, thats why he wants a clause inserted into the Swindon contract.

    just saw this...

Hmmmmm. Whether these appointments work out are in the laps of the Gods. Some modest success with S****horpe, having been previously sacked by Grimsby. Not exactly a great c.v. and I would still have preferred for Wednesday to keep Sturrock but who knows? I remember him as a useful player for Forest.

At least he has some breathing space in the relegation battle for the moment.

Yeah its debatable as to whether this guy can take us on towards promotion. He seems like a steady enough manager, but we really need someone who can work a bit of magic and get us up around the playoffs, thats why I was thinking a Nigel Worthington or Gary Megson would have been a better option, guys with proven track records of getting promoted

3 points away from the play-offs and 7 from the relegation zone. I'll be continuing to keep my eye on the latter for the time being.

Same, the last time a Wednesday team had my hopes up we scapegoated Di Canio in the interest of the British Tabloids and started our long freefall. That said though a result away to Coventry this weekend might start turning a few heads in our direction again

Di Canio was the last decent player to play for Wednesday. If one of Man U's best players had pushed a referee, Ferguson would have made a few mournful sounds and then supported the player to the hilt. Wednesday hung Di Canio out to dry and he walked as a consequence but the team was in decline anyway, starting with Francis, with great impetus by Pleat and then by Wilson.

Unless a big benefactor comes in, the Owls are doomed no longer ever to fly high again (if they ever did but they did soar slightly for a while).

He didn't have a problem chastising Cantona over the kung fu kick.

What did he do to him as a matter of interest separate and apart from the FA action ?

United gave him a long ban before the FA got in there with their action, don't know which was the longer.
