Loved it, not quite as much as he loved himself though.
No, unfortunately the more prosaic reason is that he's from Tramore, for those not in the know.

In other news, Limerick's Kevin Waters was always known as Muddy down here, never Blondie.
Also in the present squad Thomas Hawkins is known as Duckers, and Kenny Browne is known as Fletch, I'm sorry to say I don't know why.

    From previous Blues teams:

70s Midfielder and then player-manager Tony Macken was known as Jack Duckworth because of his thick-rimmed glasses.
Cup winner in 1980 Mick Madigan was known as Mary, and Eamon Coady was known as Bam Bam. Don't know why.
Terry Kearns was known as Skippy, maybe because he'd went to Oz for a year.
Seamie Coad was known as Major, as his brother used to be in the British army.
Paul Power is known as Witchie because when he was a kid he had a Jonathan Ross thing going on and couldn't pronounce his brother Richie's name right.

gareth gorman calls himself "the fox".

derek o'brien, david o'dowd & don o'rioradn had quite a few nicknames when they played for us. none of em were particularly complimentary

Why was Liam "Roper" McDermott who played for Derry in the 80s called that ?

Paul "Storky" Carlyle because of his big nose who played for Derry and I think Scamrock Rovers for a bit

John "Bugsy" Cunningham (Derry) - don't know why either.

    Any answers.

Finally Peter "Pizza" Hutton - ???

Theirs two names I thought I'd never see associated with that word.

Pizza got his nickname cos a boy in his primary school class couldn't pronounce Peter. Nothing to do with Pizza Hut.
