Could someone please tell me Who David Blood is?
Where did he come from?
What did he ever do in the game?
How did he manage to become El Presidente of the FAI?
And what exactly does he do?

I met him a few times. From the United Churches League. Well run if crap league. Could someone put the Irish Times article on here. Blood should be explaining why we played like a team from his old league. And his part in appointing someone who hasn't got a clue.

I seem to remember him saying how neither Stan's or Delaney's positions were in danger after the Cyprus debacle: "On the contrary, they are consolidating their positions."

If that's consolidating, what do you have to do to jeopardise your position?

United Churches League. Don't have Sunday leagues because it is the sabath.
Always look on the bright side of life
Came up through the United Churches League as a player then as an administrator. Served his time and got the top job. He may have been a bit of a compromise candidate given the power blocks among the eircom League, schoolboy football and Junior football in Merrion Square althoguh I suppose the UCL would be associated with Junior football. His job is more ceremonial really but he seems to be doing fine and no gaffes that I'm aware of anyway.
Although obviously answerable to the board the real power lies with CEO John Delaney. He does the tough negotiating and the day to day running of the association. Time will tell but he seems to be doing a really good job although his major gaffe could be our national team manager.

Blood rails against 'despicable' journalism
iRISH tIMES
FAI president David Blood - in a letter sent to club and league officials ........ has characterised as "despicable" some of the media coverage of the ...... Steve Staunton last week.
The main other items mentioned are the Sun's characterisation of Staunton as Kermit the Frog on its front page, a claim by the Mirror that the manager had stormed away from a pitchside briefing and, yet again, the item, intended to be humorous, on RTÉ Radio's Drivetime in which reporter Fergus Sweeney suggested that as a Czech win might prompt a change of manager, which would be good for the team in the long term, Irish fans should cheer for the visitors.
This last item was repeatedly mentioned by John Delaney in interviews in the 24 hours before the game. ..................
Blood himself, meanwhile, received a good deal of adverse publicity last week when he decided to make a statement in support of Staunton at the team hotel. Having claimed Ireland lost in Cyprus because the team hadn't got the "bounce of the ball" in the second half,............................
Blood's letter was probably "leaked" purposely.

Why did he send this letter to clubs and leagues? What's it got to do with them? It just looks like a reason to moan in the papers.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
