    Where in the World

Where in the world would a possible league decider not be televised. I'll give you a clue if your stuck, it starts with 'Ire' and ends in 'land'

This is a joke, Derry & Shels isn't on live next Tuesday night

Perhaps, in view of the content below, a clever lawyer (or even a dim one) could explain how RTE is not in breach, generally and in this specific instance, of its public service charter, under which it is supposed to do things other than spend millions of tax euros on a foreign league already available on other channels.

Worth a read: Public Service Broadcasting Charter (pdf)

    Some rough out-takes...

    RTÉ commits to:

broadcast schedules on all its channels which establish a benchmark for quality, range and diversity in broadcasting on the island of Ireland

broadcasting schedules which include the key genre categories of local, national and international news and current affairs (including coverage of the Oireachtas), arts, business, children’s programmes, drama, education, entertainment, features, history, music, religious, science, technology and sport

sports programming that reflects the demands for national, regional, minority, amateur and local sports in Ireland today

schedules which provide significant original content and which provide a showcase for home production. In particular, RTÉ will encourage an approach to production, which recognises originality of idea and techniques

recognise the particular contribution of regional and local character

as Ireland’s national public service broadcaster, through its programmes and its public activities, encourage and equip its audience to play an active and
constructive role in their communities. In so doing, it has a responsibility to
reflect the full range and diversity of cultures within Ireland

in the case of its programming, maintain and cherish its freedom from political
control or influence and from all other vested interests, whether commercial, religious, social or cultural

Under the Broadcasting Authority Acts (1960 – 2001), RTÉ is required to provide a comprehensive range of programmes, in Irish and in English, which reflect the cultural diversity of the whole island of Ireland. RTÉ is specifically mandated to provide:
coverage of sporting, religious and cultural activities

... In fulfilling this mandate RTÉ is required to cater for the expectations of the
community generally as well as the expectations of members of the community with
    special or minority interests

RTÉ is also mandated to facilitate or assist contemporary cultural expression

Sure there's a few others. Wouldn't lay blame on RTE, any station could cover it if they want.

Ina Kazakhstan they do not show this, national sport is to shoot dog and have a party. For television they watch prostitute in cage. Wa-wa-wee-wah!

Even in Lithuania they showed the first round first leg match between FK Vetra and Shelbourne live on TV, and highlight soon after, which were enjoyed in a boozer, the national league is even less popular over there then it is here ffs!!!

Or maybe theres no coverage in an attempt to actually have more people pay in through the turnsiles & actually go to the game!?

Call it mad but surely any genuine supporter would bend over backwards to get to a 'Title decider' anyway if their team was involved!?

Not really the point. I don't support either team but would love to see the game on tv. It should be on TV and is further evidence of RTE's total lack of interest in domestic football.

They use the licence fee to buy 2 nights of champions league football yet continue to virtually ignore domestic football.

Never mind TV, what about radio?

I'm going to e-mail Joe Duffy now, I think that it's a joke that there's zero CL coverage on RTE radio.

Not to mention them getting rid of Rattlebag.

The great unwashed want to watch CL not eL. Sorry folks but that's how it is. That said, there's 4 live games on RTÉ over the next few weeks but I'm sure you lot will find something to moan about that too.
