Despite the last 3 or 4 years, you'd still have to say that Robbie, if you look at his international career as a whole, has been a very good player for us. I'm also very hopeful that under the current management team he can once again come good for us. He certainly has the ability. I cannot agree with you about that chance against the Czechs though. By international standards, that was a great chance.

I disagree. I think he's been quite poor, particularly in the last campaign. It hasn't always been his own fault though; the support and supply from the midfield was poor and at times, non-existent. However, this is all behind us now and I don't hold Robbie's poor performances against him. He is really starting to properly fulfill his massive potential and hopefully he'll carry his Tottenham form into the qualifiers.

There wasn't much luck involved in taking down perfectly a similar high dropping ball in the second half.

Criticise the misses by all means but give credit where it's due.

I did say despite his form for us for the last 3 or 4 years. In his international career so far he has scored crucial goals in competitive games against the likes of Yugoslavia, Turkey, Holland, Iran, Germany, Spain and Israel. This is not to mention the goals against what would be regarded as the minnows. John Aldridge is (rightly) very highly regarded by Irish fans and approximately half of his goals came against Latvia! I suppose part of the problem is that Robbie, on account of what we know he is capable of, gets judged a lot more harshly than most of our players. At times though it's a little ott. I agree that he has had a bad run for us for the past few years but like I said in a previous post, I really think he's going to come good for us in this campaign. In a few years, after he's retired from the game, hopefully he'll be regarded as one of the greats. If he is then I'm sure it will have been to the benefit of us all.

For all his faults he is the best goal scorer we ever had and judging by what I have seen of those coming through he will be for quite a long time to come so go easy on the man.

I understand Robbie reacted badly at being substituted against Man City. Didn't see the incident. Anyone see what happened? I heard Poyet saying the reaction was ok and they needed players like that at Spurs.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Ripped off his captains armband, refused to put on the jacket and threw a massive wobbler. I only wish he had been that wound up in Basle back in 2003.

    Great finish for his goal.

In a tie game he should never have been substituted.

When Jol took him off first game of the season i think Spurs were winning 3-0 against fulham and everthing good Spurs were dong was going through Keane, he came off and they drew 3-3. Ramos had also contnued to take him off when the possibility of penalties approaches. I understand Keane's frustration, why Ramos was trying to change the game when your winning 1-0away from home, can't understand that for the life of me. It's maybe because Keane has signed a new contract and Berbatov hasn't and he is afraid of f**king him off. Either way Keane should have remained on the field for me he has been fantastic for Spurs all season.

Shane Long sulking, now Robbie who's next? If you are going to take an attacker off I thought Ramos would take Berbatov off. His workrate in terms of chasing down defenders is non existent compared to Robbie.

Rumour going around of Robbie being linked to Athletico....any substance to this?

    who madrid or bilbao?!

ramos would be a fool to get rid of a 45 ( which it will be at least by the end of the season ) goal a season strikeforce...did anyone notice berba seeming to get annoyed with bent in the PSV game, everytime he did something when he got the ball?!

If I can go off topic for one second, Bilbao are Athletic Bilbao, not Atletico. When Franco came to power, he forced the name to be changed to Atletico and when he was removed, it was changed back. I went to college with a Basque lad, massive Athletic fan, and he told me all about it. It's actually quite insulting to them to call it Atletico.

Anyway, back on topic, where did you see the link Dr?

Yeah, if Ramos gets rid of Keane I'd be very surprised, unless they get a massive bid for him. Unless Bent hits form before the end of the season - and that is looking increasingly unlikely - they do need a backup striker, but not someone who will automatically bench Keane. Tottenham have far more pressing issues than up front.

Back off topic the whole naming status in Spanish football is interesting. Its funny how insulted some clubs get by a simple mistake. Inter Milan and Ac Milan is another one. Apparently Inter fans can't stand the Milan add on likewise Milan fans never use the AC bit.

Deffo saw it somewhere but can't remember where....

Will do a bit of digging around my internet history (could take a while!)

Edit: actually came from the Guardian's Fiver email so don't know how reliable it is!

Robbie Keane is so furious with his Tottenham tracksuit that he's now
decided to sign for Atletico Madrid."

Yeah and in all reported media over there its Inter and Milan never AC Milan or Inter Milan. But I digress , Robbie might well have felt it was an unjustified substition but throwing a wobbler like that does neither him nor the club any good
