Robbie Keane

Keane has been a top class player for a very very long time. He is showing maturity this season and a lot of the credit must go to keane himself as well as Martin Jol. The only reason Keane was poor last year for Ireland was due to the fact he was not playing week in week out. When he plays regularly like most players his form improves. Just look at Defoe at the moment his confidence is not what it used to be. I think all Irish supporters should be hoping for Spurs to qualify for the Champions League as I think it will give teh stage that Keane deserves and also help Andy Reid and Stephen Kelly.

Wold it not be better for Ireland if they're not involved in europe at all and fresh for the internationals?

I dont agree I think we want our best players playing at the highest level and improving all the time.

kelly was very poor last night-just looked nervous, gave the ball away an awful lot. best thing about robbies performance last night is that he had 2 chances and scored both whereas for robbie to mormally get a couple of goals in a game he tends to miss sitters. very satisfying.

Am i the only one though that wishes he'd pack in the g ay little cartwheel?!

Well I like it as he only does it when he scores which means its either Spurs or Ireland that have just scored so the more I see of it the better in my view.

- on the Premierleague website for voting for player of the month for March. Call me biased (dont be misled by my username) but I reckon Robbie would be my choice. Top scorer in the league in March with 5 goals including a goal of the season contender with his first against Blackburn as well as a beautiful finish for his first against West Brom and a last minute winner from the spot.

Dont know if internationals should count but that Sweden game was in March too in case you need some more convincing of his form in the month.

Enough to be even in contention you might think? Apparently not. When I voted, it gave the current top 5 in the voting and he isnt even in it. Current top 5 is Lehmann, Rooney, Samaras, Henry and Ronaldo. Samaras only played 2 full games scoring 2 goals against the mighty Sunderland in the process.

Anyway, if anyone agrees with me, go ahead and follow the link to vote. You will have to choose a manager of the month as well as a player.

I think Louis Saha has a strong claim for player of the month but Robbie is doing well.

it would be great for Robbie if he did get player of the month.He is playing out of his skin and should have at least three goals today, one rasper against the post and if Jenus had passed to him instead of kicking into the side net he would have just rolled it in to an empty net.

Mido caused problems for whoever was unlucky enough to mark him, but Keane was a constant, unpredictable menace. The Republic of Ireland striker had a goal disallowed and created the opener, indicating why Jermain Defoe cannot get a start at the moment. Sven-Goran Eriksson may wish Keane was English.

All over the place and he deserved a goal. Contender for player of the month for March (if it has not already been awarded).

Slateria played well and I think Kelly is out of a job at Spurs.

He was excellent again today. I think Robbie is finally beginning to realise his potential and I think everyone is beginning to realise that he is one of the top strikers in the Premiership. He's been a fixture in the team since November and I think today's match showed how sharp he is at the moment.
Still only 25 years old, he's captain of his country and vice-captain at his club. He has 65 international caps and 26 international goals. Added to that, he's scored 121 goals in first team football for his clubs. People might talk about the form of Louis Saha in the month of March, but he'll never be in the same class as Robbie Keane.

Things have defintely improved a lot for robbie ! He isnt as fustrating anymore and there looks like a lot of good years ahead.

Well David Pleat seems to have a hard on for all things Ireland. Mind you, he did sign Keane for Spurs but all he was short of doing was admitting that he wanted to make sweet love to the lad.

I can only imagine he has never seen a clip of himself doing one of those geriatric cartwheels. As the Guardian said 'rubbish gymnastics!', be a man and do a back-flip for Christ's sake Robbie or just pack it in.

The worst thing to happen to Robbie Keane was the change of coach at Inter Milan. Had he remained there he would have fulfilled his potential.
He is a very good striker , one of the best in the history of International football in this country.. however he would have been even better had things been different at Inter. By contrast he got a lucky break when Martin Jol got the Spurs gig and he may yet go most of the way to fulfilling his potential.
A lot of people were p!ssed off when he went on the batter before the international and that is the main thing I think.

Robbie's form is excellent at the moment, probably the best of his career. He's working extremely hard & it's showing. SKY's Goals on Sunday singled him out for praise & Alan Stubbs said he's a nightmare to play against.

Sure his form for Ireland hasn't been great - injuries, loss of place at Spurs as well as not applying himself as he should have been were all a factor. During the last campaign Robbie was returning from injury in many of the games he played for Ireland.

We should be giving him credit for getting everything in order & showing his talent. It's a travesty he won't be able to bring this form to a World Cup finals.
