Robbie will probably go to Rangers![]()
Boyhood club apparently
That's a strange one I'd have thought. More money, status, visibility, etc. Reasonably stable club with an eye on Premier promotion. What's not to like?
He didn't support the Boro as a child.
Itd be nice if there could ever be Robbie conversation without someone bringing it up is all
Its really not that complicated!!!
Which club did Robbie actually support as his boyhood club ?
I think it's a smart move. He has a fair shot of getting to the champions League and showing his tactical prowess against some of the best.
Would have a good shot at a PL side then next year or replacing whoever gets sacked in January. Id argue it'd be better for him to come for the last couple of months of season so that he has a bit of a cushion to bed into the league.
A lot of managers go to the championship and never really get out of it so yeah, could be a smart one.
Might be a good one to swerve. They gave Carrick a three year deal less than a year ago, he dropped two league places & five points from last season. Last season they finished four points outside the play offs, the previous season, the eighth place finish, they were also four points outside the playoffs.
One was a new three year deal. The other, a sacking. Granted the five fewer points were five costly ones but over forty six games, they've sacked a guy who was one win & two draws short. That doesn't ring of sticking with your new three year deal young manager, does it ?
Since 2017 they've sacked Monk / Pulis / Woodgate / Warnock / Wilder & now Carrick. None were given a third season, most were given one & Robbie was there with Woodgate as a coach so he will know the chairman & his notions of where Middlesbrough belong.
The varying managerial styles of the sacked ones don't suggest an over arching strategy or club philosophy either.
I think he feels he can do better in time & really live the dream, and fair play to him.

Id look at as a positive that hes at least now starting to get a bit of chatter in English management circles. Id agree that Boro doesn't seem like a great job, but they are a big club and him getting linked there is a sign that he might be finally getting a bit of credit for how well he has done in his management career so far
Its really not that complicated!!!
And thats 3 times on just the same page... this time it was kinda funny in fairness!
