Didn't he fly from Japan one time last year? I think the Galaxy were there for some friendly match and he met up with the squad in Russia or something via the East.

That was after the Russia game in Moscow - it was quicker for him to fly back to LA via China than to go back with the rest of the squad. If he's not needed for the Oman friendly in London it probably would make sense for him to do something similar.

LA Galaxy against FC Dallas just about to kick-off live on ESPN UK (NBC Sports for those in the US).

UPDATE: A 2-0 win for the LA Galaxy with Keane as captain in Landon Donovan's absence. A relatively quiet match for Keane who will be suspended for the midweek game and has only one home match to play next Saturday before Kazakhstan.

Robbie Keane didn't get a chance to meet up with Andy O'Brien tonight as O'Brien was out injured for Vancouver Whitecaps. There is a strong Celtic influence on the pitch though with Keane, Barry Robson and Kenny Miller all playing (and, of course, O'Dea at Toronto another ex-Celtic player in the MLS).

0-0 after 26 minutes but I'll post updates if Robbie does anything significant.

He technically just got an assist

Had a goal disallowed (correctly) for offside also, hes been fairly quiet.

I actually thought he was onside from the replay. The Canadian commentators claimed his head was ahead of the line but that shouldn't count as offside.

I only seen a replay once and he looked 2 or so feet off from the angle I seen! You have me doubting my eyesight now, it was a very good finish in fairness to him.

Anyway, I thought the commentators were trying to claim the head as a last resort because Keane looked level to me.
    From fifa's website:

Nearer to the opponents' goal line means that
any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent.

If you go on the website, they have a great flash video explaining the rule. The head most certainly does count as being offside, even if it is the only part of the body ahead of the second last defender. I'm looking at it now, they even freeze-frame it for you. I wish I knew how to take a snapshot of my screen, I'd post it on here for you.

Anyway my fundamental point was that Keane was level anyway (I.e. even his head wasn't offside).
Robbie doesn't play in the Premier League, and the Premier League has no jurisdiction over the interpretation of the offside rule.

Offside in one league is the same as offside in another, that's why each individual leagues are not allowed to issue their own "interpretation" of the law. That's the whole point of having a single unified governing body, in this case, FIFA. Remember when the Scottish Premier League were going to start using video replay to issue suspensions for diving a few years ago? FIFA told them that their national team would be kicked out of qualifying groups for the world cup and euros and that's why they had to drop the idea.

LA Galaxy 2-0 up through a Beckham free-kick.

I'm going to delete all my posts above about offside because I don't think it adds anything to the thread. It's a meaningless debate with CR as far as I can make out.

2-0 final score. Keane played a full 90 minutes. Hopefully he will be on a flight to Dublin tomorrow evening.

Don't be embarrassed that you didn't know the offside rule inside out. If you do a search you'll see a similar debate with me taking your exact position about two or three years ago on here and a few people put me in my place! It happens.

Surprised Keane is not offside all the time with the size of that head...
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

One of the things that used to irritate me about Robbie was his constantly being caught offside. Thankfully, he appears to have cut it out in recent years.

You have to be in the opponent's half to be offside. Maybe that's why he wasn't offside much in the euros.

Keane was on TMZ tonight! For about a minute at the very end. He really is making it big time in LaLa land.
    Movies next?
And yes the pap that recognized him was from Cork.

Anonymous for most of the game but the one player to be on the spot to stick the ball home in the 87th minute until fouled - that's why we need him. Great peno as well. Not sure anyone else in a green jersey could have been so calm. 54 and counting.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
