Before the penalty was taken he stood just behind the ball on the spot. It's a psychological thing to make you seem bigger and the goals seem smaller. Dudek did it for Liverpool against AC Milan in the penalty shoot out in Istanbul, and I'm surprised more goalkeepers don't it.

It's gamesmanship, or unsporting conduct and should be a yellow card, the Slovak keeper knew he wouldn't be punished for it since he already had a yellow. Ever seen Joe Hart in a penalty shoot-out? Comes out with all sorts of crap, shouting at the penalty takers, standing out of his goal, asking for a 'time-out', demanding the ball be re-spotted. Embarassing, but hilarious when in the U-21 Euro semi-final he picked up a yellow card during a shoot-out for it. He'd been booked earlier in the competition (for the same carry on iirc) and missed the final.

Is it gamesmanship? I didn't know that. Does the keeper have to be on his line at all times, or only from when the ref blows his whistle until the ball is struck?

I'm not sure at exactly what stage it begins to be punishable, but I'd imagine once the ball has been spotted and the player in position to take it the keeper would be asked or expected to be on his line. Still, 90% of the time you'd get away with it so why not eh

Maybe we should have Andy Reid in goal for us then...
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

Either way the keeper ahs to be on his line at least at some stage. He was never further back than a foot off his line. I don't care if keepers move a bit just before the kick - that's their prerogative and good luck if they don't get caught - but I'm not sure I've ever seen a keeper never even once going as far back as his line.

The standing in front of Keane was fine by me. He riskeda yellow card, but that's a game of chicken with the ref which he won.

i said the exact same thing when i was watching it tuesday, i was saying to the guy beside me that he spat on the ball and he was right up to keane at the spot, but it worked. However the ref should have had him on his line when keane was ready to take the penalty,I'm not sure he was fully on the line when the penalty was taken.

Keane continues to rot on the bench today vs Fulham as Tom "The Donut" Huddlestone gives Spurs the win.

Just come on against Inter - hopefully he has a point to prove. But he'll need a hat-trick to help Spurs come back.

lol - funny you should say that Gareth Bale has just completed his hatrick.
Can't really say too much about Robbie, Gareth Bale was the only man on the pitch for Spurs.
What a player he is, really really impressive, I think Fergie should ditch Rooney and sign up Bale!!!

Superb player. I see similarities and hope that our own Seamus Coleman develops as well.

Keane to Leicester on loan acording to those in 'the know' here http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/in...howtopic=68767

surely not boys and girls? quite a tumble so soon in his career after costing Liverpool all that money.

Celtic is one thing but I really can't imagine Robbie dropping down a division, particularly to a club for whom even the playoffs would be a huge achievement at this stage.

I really doubt Coleman will ever have Bale's technical ability.

Something tells me that Keane may end up in Wolves (probably on loan) later this year.

I just posted something similar on the Coleman thread, before I saw this.

I think Robbie can definitely do better, but Leicester would not be the end of the world. That division is still up for grabs, SGE is well capable of getting Leicester to second spot, never mind the play offs.

Very true, if Bellamy can move there, why not Keane. Wouldn't be all that different from going to Celtic again.
