Had an assist as well. Just needs a goal now.
Lee Dixon's tactical view
Why Liverpool are wasting Robbie Keane's talents
There was much talk on SKY after the Villa game on how pointless it is playing Robbie either out left or upfront alone. Hoddle pointed out that he went 20 minutes without even touching the ball.
That said, he wasn't very assertive with the one chance he did get.
Dixon is one of the best pundits.
In Trap we trust
In a odd way, Keane struggling at the moment may be a good thing in that he'll be more enthusiastic about the forthcoming Ireland trip. I don't think Keane was one of those who looked at Ireland trips as a chore but I frequently got the impression that for some, including Keane, underperforming for Ireland was dampened by going back to their clubs where they were performing well and pampered by press and fans.
I think you are looking for signs, Stutts.
I would say hoping.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
Just reading the Daily Mail there and I came across an article titled 'IS IT TIME TO DROP ROBBIE?'
It leads ' one half of the irish strikeforce was a 25 million striker who played like a spoilt child, the other cost 150,000.......(says Doyle played well'
How the hell can you accuse Keane of not giving it his all?
That is real boring journalism taken from the leaf of huge nations like Spain(Raul), Italy(Del Piero) and England(Owen) who have an array of options to pick from in the first place.
Ireland can't and never should drop Keane, unless he's doing absolutely nothing, but....it was his running that helped indirectly get our second goal and his pass to McGeady for the first goal.
That really got to me.
I thought Keane played well. If his attempt had crept in what would this "journo" be saying then?
He's just trying to make some sort of radical point i think. Attention seeking in writing.
It will be interesting to see if robbie can form as good a partnership with Doyle at international level or Torres at club level as he did with Berbatov at Spurs.
If he can then the 20 million that Benitez paid for him will look like a good deal.
drop robbie....my arse.
he's a poor player..doesn't show much interest and puts in very little effort for the team.. he is very droppable for the republic of ireland..
Yeah we should get in that proven top flight goalscorer shane long instead.
Keane's got 2 in 3 for Ireland but whatever. He's rubbish.
LOL at poor player.
There could be talk of dropping him if we ever have another viable alternative up front but if anyone is seriously considering dropping him for the likes of Andy Keogh then they really need to check themselves into the nearest hospital before they do harm to themselves or someone else.
