There is one think for sure if he was English he would be going to the world cup. He is playing better than any of the English strikers at present. Fair play to him and I hope he carries on pulling in MOTM performances. It will do him the world of good and hopefully keep him on a high for the Germany game.

It's no travesty Stutts. Throughout the campaign we played like un sac de cac and got what we deserved, i.e. nothing. Had Keane and others showed such form in the qualifying rounds then we'd all be practising our Deutschsprachen right now...

    and me too.

Keane is a legend for Ireland and he is on the form of his life for spurs. He is showing what a great player he is at the moment as he is doing it in big games week in week out. His form for Ireland was only poor when he was not playing games at Spurs. There are not many players in World Football that can go from reserve team football and sitting on the bench to go and porduce quality displays at international level yet this was what we all wanted and expected from Robbie Keane last Autumn.

It's true that in the last campaign Keane hadn't anything like a run of games at club level prior to any Ireland game & it showed.

But in fairness to his critics, the penny seems to have dropped a bit with Robbie too. Chris Kamara asked him recently who the hardest trainer at Spurs was and Robbie (modestly) replied that he was. A year ago would this have been true?

I think he must have copped on that in his mid 20s and with his club place seriously under threat the only way to avoid being dropped or sold was to work his socks off. His response to his situation has been excellent. With a bit more luck he could have had 4 or 5 goals in his last couple of games. He had a perfectly good effort ruled out against Man City, a lovely turn and shot, and has hit the bar twice & brought good saves.

I'll never understand why he was taken off against Switzerland when we needed a goal, even if he was off form.

He was offside for that goal when the ball was played thats why it was ruled out.

I read about 3 years ago that he was the hardest trainer at Spurs. Not sure which player said it but it was in a Spurs magazine and they said that Robbie Keane was the hardest trainer.

I only saw it once & I thought he was behind the ball though. Very marginal anyway and the take & shot was well executed.

He was asked that question on Soccer am on Saturday and gave the same answer. It was supposed to be questions about teammates but he nominated himself for 2 of them, best trainer and biggest joker.

I remember an interview with some other Spur's player a while back and said Robbie had the best tricks on the training pitch. Can't for the life of me think who it was

Is this actually the best run of games Keane has got at club level, excluding Coventry and Wolves? He was out of the side a lot at Leeds and has frequently had to compete with Defoe at Spurs.

To me you see it time and time again if a player gets a good run of games they usually improve in form. Its not really rocket science. That is why I think form should probably have a bigger role in picking an Ireland first 11. There are very few players that can not be playing games or be sitting on the bench and then produce it for Ireland. Cunningham had the ability to not be playing great at club level and then turn it on for Ireland.

Was at the game on Saturday and I have to admit the boy seems to be playing out of his skin. Not always Robbies biggest fan, sometimes I feel that his attitude can be lacking and gets a bit of a sulk on but at the mo the lad is on fire.

His first touch is second to none in the premiership and the fact that he's making Defoe sit on the bench in a WC year says it all.
And you ask me to help you??!! Man is evil!!!! Capable of nothing but destruction!

I'm glad to see that he's playing so well at the moment and this is not meant as a criticism but I'd love to see him take the next step up and start scoring a few goals against teams in the top five. The upcoming Manure and Arsenal games will be a nice test for him. I'd love to see him do well in those games.

Have to disagree with you there Stutts. If the threads are still around I think you'll find the general concesus was that his game was suffering from a lack of accountabillity. You seen how he responded at first to Defoe's presence in the spurs team. The tantrum when he didn't get on etc. I feel he needs to have someone nipping at his heels to avoid complacency. If anything the subbing of Keane came too late into the campaign to shock him out of his slump

I got a pain in me rocks looking at him sitting on his back side with his hands in the air screaming at the ref, or turning into two defenders needlessly, being generally wastefull.

Now, in fairness, he's been given accountabillity of a different sort in his role as captain/vice captain and is thriving in it. I actually didn't wan't him as captain cos I don't think he's the type of player who should feel like he's not gonna be subbed. But that's just me.

Delighted to see him flying as he is and I hope he's in the champions league next year. On a side note I do hope though that his rich form doesn't alert the likes of Liverpool and turn his head. I think he's found his level at a club like Spurs and another move might mean a step forward and then two steps back. Just my opinion.

I think Joll is having a positive effect - he seems like a good manager and seems to be getting something together at Spurs. Hopefully Robbie will stay injury free and be part of that at Spurs for the next few years. Champions League qualification would be great!

He had a good game today. His penalty was excellent. He was almost celebrating before it went in!

It is great to see him back playing regular first team football and scoring frequently as well. Hope his form holds up.

Yes Robbie has gone from strength to strength, he must be the
Premierships top striker at the moment (goal a game for 6 games?).
I hope his form continues into the qualifiers because they would
give us a real boost, it should but the opposition on the back foot.

Robbie is up to number 5 in the Actim index, just a shade behind
    Henry.

He didn't get into their team of the season, however Steve Finnan does.

We have 5 in the top 100 (O'Shea, Given, Duff) which ain't to bad.
