According to the tabloids it looks like West Ham and Newcastle are interested in a loan move rather than a full transfer. I think Robbie's wages are still a sticking point for most of these clubs. Most of them are not willing to pay a fee and then 70-80k a week in wages.

if he wants to play football you would imagine he could take a pay cut to play, 40k is still a good wedge otherwise stay at spurs and pick up the big money for 15 minutes a week if even that.

Harry must really dislike him at this stage if Defoe is putting off the operation, i dont think Defoe is a better player and Pavlychenko is hit and miss. Is there more too it than just last years christmas party?

well it looks that defoe may not need one, seems it depends on how he feels after tomorrows game. i dont know he was spurs best player in pre-season with 4 goals so he was in form. he just has a liking for defoe and crouch seen as hes worked with them a lot in the past it seems. it looks like he has to leave, but u would think either robbie would drop his wages or spurs would drop there asking price if they want to let him go once and for all.

Arry, is a londoner init. He is a true enggrrrland man, yes bruv. Crouch and Defoe would get a head of him because of the way he thinks. Having said that the 2 of them justified their selection the last day.

how can you be the best person in pre-season and then not get a chance? this seems to happen a few irish players...

I'd take Keane over Crouch and Defoe every day of the week.

I hope Robbie does go now. His £ is made so he can move for footballing reasons.

exactly, thats my point, he has plenty of money made and even a drop to say 40k wouldnt see him on the breadline, id love to see him go somewhere decent a get 15 plus goals and spurs to flounder, something in my head makes me think that harry is picking crouch and defoe as they are english

thats prob part of it but he did buy robbie back so im sure he likes him. but look he had defoe at west ham brought him to portsmouth when he was there as with crouch he had him at portsmouth and now at spurs. he likes and knows these 2 players. every manager has players he wants, only natural. i just hope by tue something will be sorted for him.

Heard from a very reliable source the deal to villa was progressing quite well before MON left, dont know what the status is now.

I would agree about playing with carrol, while im not one of robbies biggest fans, think he could slot in alongside him quite nicely and would score a right few goals

Harry Redknapp keeps photos of Crouch and Defoe in his wallet.

I hope Robbie finds a road out of there, he's prone to rust when he doesn't get enough minutes.

without young, villa will hover dangerously above the relegation zone, it wouldnt be wise for Lerner to sell him as id say there would be outrage from the fans, could do ok with gabby Ag too, but more suited to playing off someone a little less greedy

He could do well alongside Heskey, if that old adage about playing best off a big man is true. Didn't do much for Rooney in June mind you.

Really? The wings are the one place Villa actually have competition for places.

Without going to off topic, young hasnt played on the wing in ages, he is playing in the hole and supporting agbon, downing is average at best and albrighton is very in experienced, service from them to keane wouldnt be great

Keane will stay on the bench and collect his wages. It is very easy for guys like us to say he needs a move and he should just take a paycut to make it happen. We're not the ones leaving thirty grand a week on the table.

I agree he won't leave unless he gets the same money he is getting at Spurs. But I would guess Fulham, West Ham, Wolves, Stoke, Birmingham and quite a few others would pay his wages. Wolves tried to get him on loan last season but he chose Celtic instead. And having watched the Chris Hughton interview earlier today I am sure Newcastle are interested in signing Keane. Keane signing for any of the clubs mentioned brings in some serious extra revenue throught shirt sales alone. Keane is still box office. But as you say Colbert he might choose to hang on in there at Spurs and hope for a few injuries/loss of form for the other forwards.

This is a controversial opinion, but does anyone else think Robbie seeks moves to make easy cash. He has made a career of moving under contract and pocketing lots of money. My opinion may be silly or just naive, but history supports such a view.

Every time he has moved it has been for footballing reasons.

Early in his career it was a case of moving up the ladder to bigger teams. As time went on it became a matter of moving teams to get playing time.

A move now would be no different. He is a very good player but I think he needs very specific conditions to be successful, which not every manager is capable or willing to facilitate.

I don't really know what the right move is for him. Champions League football is a reason to fight for your place....if I was Robbie I'd think about biding my time for the first half of the season, and then if I wasn't getting the playing time I'd seek a move in January.

Pavlyuchenko on for Crouch at half-time today. Robbie is still stuck on the bench and hoping for a run. Hopefully he'll be able to get his club issues out of his mind before the two games next week.

Spurs have used up all their subs and left Keane on the bench, Wigan have gone 1-0 up and missed a sitter earlier, just heard a chant of Keano from the crowd. McCarthy seems to be having a decent game.
Big result for Wigan, Not such a good result for Spurs if it stays this way.
