No, Inter were knocked out in the qualifying stages of the CL by some minnows that season. Keane came on as a sub in the second leg and played well. He had a chance to win it for Inter late on but his shot was cleared of the line.
From what I can remember, his goal in the Italian Cup was against Lazio - he flicked the ball over Nesta's head and scored??

I thought he won the penalty in that European game, and Recoba missed with it, see more here doesn't mention who won the penalty though

You may well be right. Cant ever remember the penalty in the game. Keane was praised by the Italian media and the Inter fans after that game from what I can recall though.

yea weren't they norwegians that knocked them out? i think the near-goal you speak of was a backheel from about 12 yards indeed. against lazio, someone hit a long ball over the top and he ran onto it with nesta closing and lobbed the keeper. lovely goal

I can't bellieve how biased Sky's ratings are. Every week Defoe gets rated higher than Keane. If anyone saw today's match, Defoe was hardly in the match while Keane was very lively. They gave Robbie a 6 with the tag of "Struggled" and Defoe a rating of 7 with the tag "Lively". Only 2 other Spurs players got a 7 and they were also both England internationals.

Not suprisingly Lampard got a 9 for scoring a peno and an open goal and doing f*ck all else.

yep its the same cr*p at liverpool united. keane made gerrard look like a schoolboy 2day with his passing. yet gerrard got a 6 and keane only 7. there was alot more than 1 grade between them 2day!!!! it said gerrard "not his usual self" and keane "cool display"...no i think thats wat you call "proving that your still a world class footballer" when you keep someone who the english media have been raving about all year (gerrard), quiet!

And just to add, the only 3 players to get more than a 7 for Chelsea were also the only 3 England internationals that started, Johnson, Terry and and Lampard. Its the last time I'll rely on Sky for ratings, its the first time I looked at the rating for a match I'd already seen. I actually sent them some feedback. I think we can all admit to being a bit biased towards the Irish players but none of us are as blatant as that.

Vintage Sky really, some of the stuff they say completley baffles me. If someone scores it seems they'll automatically get MOTM, espically if English. The most laughable of this was when Joe Cole scored against Liverpool, I think, but was absolutley useless apart from the goal. Sky give him man of the match, Mourinho publically blasts him over his performance and drops him for a good long while. I'd take anything they say with a pinch of salt.

And I also thought Keane was impressive enough today, considering how little space he and the rest of the Spurs attack got.

EDIT - I also remember when Duffer signed for Chelsea Andy Gray wrote an article where he said Duff was "No David Beckham...or even Harry Kewell!" Sums them up really.

Also, I see they've given Scholes a higher rating than Keane, that's laughable really, I hoenstly thought Scholes was awful, his passing was all over the place.

Half the time the links to the player ratings don't work for me (although this could be because I use Opera rather than internet explorer) but I follow the fan ratings more than the official Sky ratings.

The Beeb as usual get it spot on

Steven Gerrard - 6: Tried to get his team going after Rooney's goal but was effectively shackled by Keane and his set-pieces were also below-par.

Roy Keane - 8: Blockbusting volley crashed back off the bar and kept the usually influential Gerrard quiet.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I had a problem trying to see Man U's ratings (Liverpools were OK though)
I would imagine that it was due to a high level of traffic as it worked
on the 3rd or 4th try, so I doubt it is because you use Opera.
Not many sites give ratings so I imagine it is busy on Saturday evening.

I wouldnt read the player ratings crap on sky sports its total biased rubbish. The Sunday times imo gives the more fair player ratings. keane plus defoe got a 7 while gerrard got a 6 and roy got a 9motm.

Got a reply from Sky about the ratings:
    Hi
Thank you for taking the time to email us - I am passing a copy to the
    Sports editorial team.
    Regards
    Rachel
It'll be fun to see if they actually drop the bias.

Lads can anyone supply me with Robbie's actual goals and appearances record for his various clubs please.

Just interested in seeing his goals to game ratio for his various clubs. I know they don't compare to his international record but I'm bored today and just thought of this!

Thanks eirebhoy , I knew you could sort it out for me although I don't know why I didn't think of that myself though

His record is slightly better than what I would've thought. 82 goals in 205 games, not a bad return at all.

That's only league goals and appearances btw and it doesn't include 30 odd substitute appearances. Still a good return from him and so much more to come.
