I've been to a couple (have family in belfast). Wouldn't make a point of going but if I was up there again on a Saturday afternoon would go. Was in Wondsor both times (v Glentoran and Portadown).
How many EL fans on here would have attended games up here? For those that haven't how many would be interested in doing so?

I was at the Glens v Portadown cis match that went to pens last week. I was staying in Belfast that night. Couldn't believe Kevin Pressman didn't take a penalty - he did so one night in a cup match versus Wolves, IMHO best penalty taken ever! Sat on my jack todd and never opened my trap though. Thats the only game I've been to since Liam Coyle singlehandedly demolished Linfield at the Oval on Wednesday night when I was a student. Saturday afternoon football doesn't suit me at all.

Wouldn't mind popping up for a game when our season is over (ok no jokes about our season already being over please). My cousin (sometimes posts on here, Drogman) went up to Portadown recently for their game against Crusaders with a group of Drogs and they had some craic.

All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
Never been to a game yonder, but plan to take some in once season ends down here.
I've been to an IL game only once, despite spending 3 years in Belfast, when I went to UUJ. At the time it never really occurred to me to go to a game, and none of my mates were bothered, apart from one casual Linfield fan. I was too busy with other aspects of the student life and running back home to Dundalk whenever we were playing.
In recent years I’ve become a real football junkie, and luckily so is the wife, so any weekend away inevitably involves football.. Paris St Germain, Roma, Inter Bratislava, Barcelona, Hibs, Reading, Liverpool. For some reason I haven’t been in Belfast for a couple of years despite having family there, but if I was up for the weekend I’d probably pop along to a game. Contemplated popping to Newry a couple of times last winter when the eL season was out but never did in the end.
The one game I was at…. Ballyclare Comrades v Dungannon Swifts!
That one must have been exciting seand. Cheers for the replies. I was simply curious. I have not had a chance but I am determined to get down to a Drogs game before the season is over and take them up on their kind invite. I have never been to an EL game despite always meaning to and I was just wondering if this interest works both ways.
Ive been to a few Newry games in the past few years (Linfield, Portadown, Armagh City, Dungannon and Coleraine) Athmosphere **** in Newry they have **** all support as had most of the other teams there apart from Linfield and Portadown football was ok. Will probably be at a few more games this season too.![]()
Cliftonville/Linfield at Solitude a few years ago but I think you may have already known that.![]()

Been to Solitude many times and windsor as well. Also been to the Oval where Liam Coyle was then playing.
Been to Glenavon, Larne, Portadown and Newry with Rovers.
Great that the majority of grounds up there have a social club.

I took in Institute v Newry last season (Irish League season) after Derry v UCD.
Friday the 17th of November: Drogheda v Waterford. Support your fellow Blues. That way, you can wear your Linfield jersey. We haven't brought a bus to our last couple of trips to Drogheda, but there should be a decent crowd up as it's the last day of the season. Possibly an overnight stay and p*ss-up. Drogs will possibly still have a chance of getting into Europe and we might be scrapping to stay off the bottom.
I haven't been to a game up North cos I'm never up that way so I've only seen Linfield and Glentoran in the flesh in Tolka Park. I wouldn't have minded seeing Larne play when Jimmy McGeough was boss - a few Blues fans went to the Cup Final.
Have been to Newry v Glens, Institute v Newry and Newry v Lisburn. Just a coincidence Newry were there all three times! Try to take in a game if I'm up in Derry. The last two were two woeful games though - 0-0 and nothing happening. Picked two bad ones, I hope!![]()
Was at the same Cliftonville v Linfield game as WAR mentioned.
Honestly thought the whole experience was awful:
- crumbling Edwardian-era stadium apart from a nice shiny away fans' stand
- neither windows nor lights in the gents which made going for a pee an acutely aural experience
- the pitch was threadbare of grass
- the ref was a joke (e.g. player needed treatment but wasn't made leave the pitch afterwards)
- standard of play was fairly grim, Linfield won 4-1 at a canter if I recall rightly
Was at the Portadown v Pats friendly a couple of months ago, was OK as friendlies go, but Portadown were only back in pre-season so couldn't really judge much on that. Nice ground, friendly bar staff and club officials, wonderful chip van but could've done without the handful of very large gentlemen with no hair going on about "f***ing Dublin this and f***ing Dublin that".
I don't think I'd be pushed about going to an IL match, though a Setanta Cup game involving Pats would obviously be different. I may's well be honest and say my two experiences to date haven't encouraged me to unpack any of what I freely admit is a lot of personal baggage, not all of it football-related, regarding IL teams (e.g. my da was a Belfast Celtic fan in Windsor for THAT semi-final, ex-girlfriend lived on Garvaghy Road, etc).
