You've put your point across now several times, which let's be honest is part of the problem in the IL forum: you have a distinct inability to state your case and leave it at that. There's debate and there's he-said-she-said, and it's the latter you lean towards. You're not the only one doing it, but that doesn't make it right, and in all honesty I don't think it's any more mature than the offenses you accuse me of.

I've said my piece, I'm not saying more unless you come up with something new.

The barney between David and Steve was reminding me of the Churchill quote about the 'dreary steeple of Tyrone and Fermanagh, and the integrity of their quarrel' and all that, but it hadn't descended into personal abuse or even political name calling, and to my mind, even if it was boring for the rest of us, I don't see why it needs to be stopped. As for banning Philo for correcting your spelling......

David and Steve's constant reiteration of the same old arguments no longer contributes to the forum. There's nothing stopping them continuing their discussion via PM or email.

I've already explained why I banned Philo for three days, but since some of you have difficulty understanding what's really a very simple concept, I'll give you a Star-style simplification:

Philo walked into a bar, walked up to someone, and made a smart comment to them. That's just plain rude, and the manager went up to him and asked him to behave in a more adult manner. In response, Philo thought it would be funny to make another smart comment, to the manager. The manager decided that Philo wasn't going to improve his manners, so he barred him for three days.

The manager has been running his bar for quite some time and has strong feelings about how it should be run. You have the right to complain to the manager about the way he handled it. The manager has a right to discard your feedback, because his experience knows better. You have a right to drink in another bar. This is how it is.

Great thread. The idea that I'll be ticked off by Philo's post winning POTM is just plain bizarre. Thanks for backing me Ultan, though I'd advise not doing it again. Not PC to support the fascist dictator, dontchewknow. Oh, and for the record, we have a mod forum and mods ask for people to be banned quite regularly. I'm the only person with permissions to do it.

So, to review, Philo was banned while trying to get banned, presumably to popularise himself on his own forum. Sounds like my radar's in tip-top condition then.

Game over, end of story.

One of these days the hardmen rebels will realise that this exact scenario plays itself out like clockwork 2-3 times a year, and always ends in exactly the same way. Users get banned, the hecklers go back to reading and posting, Foot.ie goes back to normal and keeps growing and growing. No alternatives exist because the model the thicks want, with no censorship and arguments galore, always and inevitably crawls up it's own ass and fails.

And still people fail to understand the simplest concept, repeated over and over again ad nauseum and infinitum: If you don't like Foot.ie, don't come here. Is that really such a hard concept to understand?

Bohs Partisan, Philo is only right in cloud cuckoo land, in looney land. He wanted to get banned and he got banned. Boo hoo.

I'm done with this idiocy now. Any more attempts to drag it up wil result in a raft of bannings.
