    NO

its our home game so we should choose the day / time that best suits us , obviously while still in compliance of the FAI and competition rules about distance etc etc

    its a cup semi-final
why give away or lessen or chances of getting a full house at the cross and thus lessen our chances of ultimately winning and qualifying for the cup final, just for the sake of being nice about it.

I think ourselves and derry have managed to facilitate each other up to now, and while I accet friday night is best for us, i think we could be a bit more helpful- saturday night.

How many more Derry Fans will travel on the Saturday or Sunday compared to the fall off in crowds that - I suspect - will happen if we move from a Friday?

We need to firmly establish Friday night as Football night in Cork and while I do have some sympathy we have to put CCFC first.
don't worry, they couldn't hit an elephant at this dis......

I actually voted to move it to Saturday, as I agree with the co-operation between clubs, (esp. non-Pale clubs). But at the same time, Derry played their games on Thursdays, which is even worse than Friday, so they were not too kind to Waterford or Pat's fans. I have to agree with Jim about Friday night being football night, and try and make it a regular thing for those who could become "serious" City fans.

I agree. How would we feel if we had to travel up on the thursday?

some ppl fuming up here about playing on the friday night, but as some of you say you think u should play on whatever night suits u,for us ,we travel to cork nearly every time we play and have many friends there, sunday suited us both,i dont think our supporters will let the leauge match now b played on sunday,it will b moved to thursday nite, our fans will not b happy with cork for changing the agreement we had a good understanding with the early kick-off.even if it had of been a saturday night,we could of lived wih that, but now i think the bond we had as football clubs outside of dublin will suffer big time.

Unfortunatly I agree with the above post.

This season Derry had to travel to Cork twice in the league which means Cork will come to Derry twice next season.

If Cork had of played ball off the park then if a replay comes about then I'm sure Derry would have changed the following weeks league game to the thursday and had the cup replay on the sunday.

But now if the game ends in a draw I reckon the replay will now be on the thursday and the league game will remain for the sunday which means the 1st game on the thursday night will be the most importannt and the Cork fans will not be able to see it!

    I hope that makes sense!

Derry City and Bohemians are unhappy with the arrangements announced for the two FAI Carlsberg Cup semi finals with the Phibsboro' club writing to Brendan Menton, General Secretary of the FAI requesting their all-Dublin clash with Shamrock Rovers be played on the Friday night 4th October.

The FAI arranged the Bohs Rovers game for Sunday afternoon 6th Oct and the Cork Derry match for Friday 4th Oct but it is believed that a reversal of the fixtures would be more appealing to fans of all concerned.

Derry would have preferred not to have to travel to Cork on the Friday for their tie but Jim Roddy said:"We can't believe the decision that's been reached. We're not happy but we'll play."
A Friday night game in Cork would diminish Derry's large travelling support as most would not be in a position to take the day off work, whereas an all Dublin evening kick off in the captial would almost certainly attract a large crowd both supporters and neutrals alike to Tolka Park.

It is only the FAI that can manage to make a f*ckup of 2 games.
Surely the most blatently obvious arrangement was the all-dub clash on Friday, the City's to meet on Sunday.
How do these f*kers minds work at all ???

This is probably just about the best and most typical example of the FAI at work. Not content with annoying one or other of the parties involvved, they decide to do their level best to come up with a ridiculous decision that will annoy everyone

Of course the worst thing about it now, is that as it looks like there will be no live coverage, re-arranging the fixtures is no big deal. I'd still go for a Saturday evening kick-off rather than Sunday though....

Does that mean its up to BL if the game is to be re-arranged ?
If so, I think he should make some effort to facilitate Derry.
Apparently they are having a lot of trouble trying to charter a plane for a Friday....
In return, Derry would have to move the league game to a Sunday..(it's down to be played on a Thursday)..

I´m a bit confused by the whole thing. I would have thought it was up to the clubs to decide when the games were played (with final decision going to the home club) unless the games on tv in which case the cameras must be facilitated.

Well I thought the fixture arrangements were decided by the FAI, because of live TV Coverage.
If the games are not being shown live, City should first of all suit themselves, but take the travel issue from Derry into account.
    I am a bit confused too (course that's nothing new !! )

Hence the suggestion of moving it to Saturday makes more sense. It´s the best compromise that I can see.

I don't where i got it but the impression given was City had first option on friday or sunday as these the only options for tv coverage. Course tv coverage was in no way guaranteed which is where the FAI **** up comes in...

To be honest the whole thing is a mess (surprise surprise). City say the FAI decided, Derry don´t believe them and the FAI (as usual) are saying nothing.

Can someone please sort it out?!

I thought Michael Hyland and Co. were being paid to sort these things out
