Marvilhosa! I must say I like a bit of Brazilian myself.

What album are the Os Mutantes songs off? Any good? I have and love the first two albums...

Favourite Brazilian artist (well, I've only heard ten but anyway) is Caetano Veloso. Would extremely highly recommend anything of his, particularly his early stuff, for example any of Tropicalia, Irene, Little More Blue, Joia, or Domingo (which is a bossa album with Gal Costa). Can fill you in a bit more if interested. If you're looking at getting one, try Tropicalia - no exaggeration to say it's one of the best albums I've ever heard, and I can't understand most of the lyrics! It's one of his livelier efforts, a little similar to Os Mutantes without the haphazard schizophrenia that characterises their first couple of albums!

Any 'must-get' Brazilian albums in your opinion?

"Posso Perder..." and "A Hora e a Vez..." are both from Mutantes e Seus Cometas No Pais Do Baurets from 1972. It's a lot heavier than their early stuff, a lot rockier. "Ando Meio Desligado" is from their third album A Divina Comedia in 1969. From what I've heard of the first two albums (Panis Et Circenses, A Minha Menina, Banho de Lua), Divina Comedia is about halfway between those two and the one from 1972.

The only Brazilian albums I have are the two Mutantes ones. I'd strongly recommend both. I also have a few Brazilian compilation CDs which are mostly soul and tropicalia.

I've heard about the Tropicalia album and I'd buy it if I ever came across it.
Only Veloso song I have is Joia. It's kinda hard to get a feel of his sound though cos it's only 90 seconds long.

Yeah if you like the stuff from around that time it's a must. Btw I think I saw a Caetano Veloso 'Best Of' downstairs in HMV Grafton St a few months ago so maybe they'd have something there.

    Banco de Gaia - Amber
    LTJ Bukem - Watercolours
    Joey Beltram - Jazz 303
Booka Shade - In White Rooms
John Tejada - The End Of It All
    Jona - Northern Love
Nathan Fake - The Sky Was Pink (James Holden Remix)
    Four Tet - Ringer
    Drexciya - Sea Snake

    Ricardo Villalobos - Hireklon
Claude Von Stroke and Christian Martin - Groundhog Day
    F.U.S.E. - A New Day
Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent)

    some more:

john coltrane - village vanguard sessions
    mv/ee - drone trailer
    dirty projectors - rise above
ocean - pantheon of the lesser
    wrnlrd - oneiromantical war

p.s. kingdom hoop and superfrank - you might want to check out Soul Jazz Records, british label that re-issues all sorts of semi-obscure native music and sounds. they've published at least 2 "tropicalia" compilations as well as cuban, latino, jamaican, noise, dub, dance, retro hip-hop, tons of cool looking stuff:

It's not bad.At the moment i would'nt rate it as high as there last two albums.I'd have to listen to it a bit more before i'd make up my mind on it.
For now i'd give it 3/5.

The single isnt too bad, the lyrics are ropey enough though. 'Roller-skate waitresses?'.. Listening to Prodigy's 'Invaders Must Die', liking it so far. Thunder is a class track!

Got the new Bonnie Prince Billy album, its maybe not as good as some of his others but its still head and shoulders above most of the thrash recently released

i've gone off him a bit myself wangball. since 'i see a darkness' - he's gotten more polished in his sounds and i don't think anything newish i've heard has been anything close to his palace music/bros. days. still, the man's a genius and there's no one really like him at present.

Nobody even close Ken, I would recommend Justin Townes Earle new album for a slice of Americana though! It has an excellent cover of "Can't Hardly Wait" by the Replacements
