That is very interesting, it just shows what you can do with the right coach in charge
...that as Shamrock Rovers are going for the 1st division title, they lined up for their game against Limerick last night with their defence consiting of 3 of our first choice defence from last year!!!
Puts it into prospective when you consider how crap we were for most of last season. This season, performances have improved since July and we should have got something from recent home defeats to title chasers, Galway and Dundalk but we are still losing way too many games.
For me, crappy defending is the main reason, all 3 goals on Saturday could have been avoided and we have the 3rd worst defensive record in the division. Players are out there, Kilkenny signed Aiden Price from Cherry Orchard and he has been the best centre half in the division for the last 2 seasons

A lot of players have come through Kildare county and gone on to play an important role in their new clubs drive for promotion when you think about it.
Look at all the players we lost to Dublin City as well and then there was Philly Hughes at the weekend 18 goals this season.
Things look like they are going the right direction now but I' worried that we might loose all our best players at the end of the season and essentially have to start all over again and it willl be the same thing all over again. Poor start and a improvement in form when it is too late and the season over.
Would reckon that it frustrates John Ryan as well if he is told he has to sell to balance the books. Its why we need biggger crowds which will have a knock on effect on sponsorship revenue etc,.
Defense is terrible but at least we can score goals something we couldn't really do at the start of the season either.
