    Preview: Cork City v Shelbourne

Cork City's final home game of the season sees Shelbourne looking to clinch the title. Two clubs with almost as much going on off the pitch as on it meet at Turner's Cross on Friday night. In all probability the match will be between the current and next eircom League champions and the visitors could wrap up the title before Saturday.

Cork City can at least delay Shelbourne lifting the eircom League title as the Dublin side visit Turner's Cross on Friday night. Mathematically, Cork can still retain the title, but realistically it's unlikely. Cork would have to win their two remaining games against Shels and Derry as well as banking on Shels losing all of their remaining games (two or three) by a large margin in each. Throw into that the possibility that Shels could yet be awarded three points for the ongoing Jason McGuinness issue and even the most optimistic of Cork fans must be conceding defeat in the title race.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

How lazy are journos when they don't even add up the numbers. Unless we won by a cricket score against Shels, we were never going to win the title race going into that game.
