    Night time buses to/from Derry

Just a wee note about the new bus departure times to/from Derry and Dublin. (and goes via Monaghan)

There's a bus leaving Derry at 0045 to Dublin, which could be handy if you're stuck for transport to a match.

There's also night time buses to/from Dublin and Belfast. http://www.buseireann.ie/site/your_j...pressway/1.pdf

That's a great wee edition to Ireland's rather poor public transport infrastructure.

And a godsend to skint EL fans who don't want to spend money on an over-night stay !

    Thumbs up Happy Days

About bloody time there is a bus you can get home from a game outside Dublin while being able to get a few pints afterwards .Hopefully this will lead to more routes being the same

Don't think there are any. McGinleys from Donegal don't stop in Derry AFAIK.

Yeah they have a new timetable now and have a service going through Derry - it was launched during the summer. They're as expensive as Bus Eireann though

That's a handy one to know. I'll bear it in mind for next season. Imagine how crusty and cold you'd feel arriving back in Busaras at 4.45 am. I suppose it all depends on the result.

Not sure what prompted this change. You still can't leave the likes of Cork any later than 6ish to head to Dublin.

Aercoach's last bus on the Dublin cork route is at 7pm at both ends. Think they would have a market for later ones though. Superb service btw.

Agreed, much better value than the train.

Well it goes without saying considering the price for the train is nearly 4 times more.

The argument given for the night time buses on the Dublin-Belfast route was that it was for people getting early/late flights from Dublin. I assume it's the same reasons for the Dublin-Derry route.

The Dublin-Cork route is a joke. It's always packed, it takes forever, and it's too infrequent. There's a bus every 30 (or 15 at times) minutes between Derry and Belfast and also between Dublin and Belfast. That's what the Dublin-Cork route needs.

Through the vast majority of the daytime hours, the Maiden City Flyer from Derry to Belfast is every 15mins. And a luxury double-decker to-boot !

The north's public transport infrastructure is lacking, but the Republic's is a joke for a modern, rich and successful nation that's not exactly huge.

Don't get the 3:45 bus to Derry on a Friday.

It doesn't get you up there for 7:45 as the timetable says.

    More like after 9.

btw pubs up there close at 11, so you'll be waiting around for a while for the 00:45.
