All foundation work so far. The car park has a section cvlosed off to give them space to work. Letter to members said car park would be restored when build was finished.

This is not a surprise, but still very disappointing. Potentially damaging for other LOI clubs applying for funding.

    https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/b...unds-9xkhq90nk

Bray Wanderers has been sanctioned by the government after an investigation found that tens of thousands of euros in state grant funding was unaccounted for, The Times can disclose.

The Department of Sport began an inquiry into the club more than two years ago over apparent irregularities in the claiming of more than €450,000 for work at the club’s grounds.

very light on detail a figure of 450000 is thrown out then they talk about an invoice for 32k. Pretty all over the place article really
Either way u are right about damage to other LOI clubs and might be part of the many reasons why the Dept of Sport are so scrooge like with LOI compared to GAA

I think we al know the real reason why the LOI doesn't receive the same government largesse as the GAA does. And it's got nothing to do with Bray Wanderers.

I think everyone is saying that now on the side of the stand, it looks even worse when it’s compared to the tarmac, a one day painting job would tidy it up no end.

Noticed the main stand in turners cross now has a small green wire fence running the whole length of the pitch, does it impede any view of the first or even second row I wonder? Previously in that stand the fans in section closest to the shed could actually put their feet up on the advertising hoardings. They will fairly closed in now.

Certainly looks like it blocks the view. What was the reason for that?

Think this is the first opposition manager to comment on the MF pitch this season? https://www.limerickleader.ie/news/s...y-abysmal.html

It seemed to have had half of Kilkee beech added to it, better off bringing a sandwedge that footy boots. Its only a matter of time before someone breaks a leg as the amount of times both teams lost the ball because of the pitch of a what looked a simple control and then dived it to save the day is unreal. Usually you might get 1 or 2 a game , last night there must have been 10 to 12.

I hope that someone puts a dust sheet over that nice tarmac if the painters come in.

Link to article regards Markets Field pitch. When people like this are in charge you might as well give up and pull the plug. Before you read the piece just have a think about this the CEO of the LEDP Liam McElligott, added his thoughts on the pitch stating that, as owners of the ground, they were happy with its condition. “I think the surface speaks for itself. It is a top class pitch”. WHAT WHAT..... https://www.limerickleader.ie/news/s...criticism.html

I think having a concrete wall for safety reasons is not the greatest. Its a little bit higher than it used to be but nothing I think that makes a huge difference except for small kids. I think it looks better as well.

Should also point out that this article was written by a man who is on record as thinking no one has the right to complain about the state of the pitch because Limerick only rent it.

Think the comments only came because Shiels had his say. Every manager visiting the place should give it both barrels. As I've said elsewhere, blaming the weather is rich, considering that other pitches in the country are so much better.
