Some photos of upgrade work taking place at Finn Park over the last few weeks. Seats cleaned up and steps painted, away dressing room refurbished, referees room refurbished to include separate male and female shower and changing area, crush barrier placed on town end terrace, club shop got a new coat of paint, new security control room erected at the back of the stand, press box got a new coat of paint and the gantry also saw a bit of refurbishment to the flooring there. Pathway also created on the river end to allow away fans over to the away section on the gantry side of the ground with fencing at the bottom.
Still have emergency lighting to fix up around the ground and a couple of other bits and pieces to do, this all despite the club hoping to be in the new stadium in a year or two.

Shame they couldn't do something at the shop side to improve view from TV Gantry
We are the SR the SRFC.......
Part time Finn Harps too :)
Unless they move the gantry, little can be done there.

Up until last year it was enforced in Landsdowne as they'd no designated smoking area, past year or so though they've opened it out at half time with a couple of stewards at the bottom of the exit stairs on the east stand side anyway so people can nip outside for a smoke and get back in. LOI wise, I've never seen it enforced myself.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
Looks like theres gaps every few yards
Aye, but it will still have to go through Congress. Croke Park might have been an easier sell, but counties voting to allow those dirty foreign games on their own sacred soil may be a different issue.
Mind you, as with the defeated free-to-air motion, money will sway them.
Money will certainly be the big difference. The likes of Derry City playing a few games out of Celtic Park won't make much in the way of money for the GAA, but a handful of RWC games will potentially make millions for them. The GAA simply will not turn down that sort of money.

Any work done at Ferrycarrig Park to get a premier division license?
New fence around the pitch and re-flooring of the stand were the major changes to Ferrycarrig Park. Completion of the media facilities and another set of toilets with wheelchair access are the next items on the list.
Spotted a couple of developments in Ferrycarrig last night. A new permanent set of toilets is now going up at the dressing-room end. This would enable the existing blocks of toilets to be moved to the N11 end as they look moveable. They've also shifted the perimeter fence at the N11 end in about two yards nearer the pitch, which would suggest that new seating or terracing will be put in at that end.
What are Cobh doing with this side of the ground?
Replacing the boundary wall with metal fencing. As far as I know some of the wall became unstable due to previous works and so had to be replaced.
Latest from the Gerry Matthews (previous Dundalk owner) saga is, he is considering demolishing the Youth Dev Centre and salvaging it for scrap as its clear DFC have no interest in it. Still no progress on the lease and he has been alleging abusive phone calls being made to his house!
Without the lease Dundalk cannot proceed with any ground improvements.
