A roof on that stand would be truly fantastic.

So what exactly was the difference between this new version and the one they had built previously, but were unable to use.

This one looks almost a replica, also was it used last Thurs night>?

I wish we could install something similar on the town end of Oriel Park, looks good I have to say, closes the ground in nicely.

The old one was banjaxed and unsafe from wear and tear. Yeah, it was used on Thursday.

European game V IBV two seasons ago, fella went right through the stands, lucky he was not seriously injured - I am guessing they had to strengthen it, and he wasnt even a fat bast**d. Must be a real fan as he could have sued for a nice sum

Unless its a concrete structure Pats will be always throwing good money after bad on that stand. The cost of putting it up and repair works can't be to far of the price if they done it right in the first place.

Pretty huge difference apparently. This is workable and is guaranteed for 25 years according to the club. Crowd there last week has paid back nearly a quarter of the cost (roughly)

How much has been spent on it in total? From foundations to the current repairs?

Not sure in total. Some of it was grant aided. This current model cost 60k (patrons funded)

They couldn't put in a 'new' concrete structure as there would have been planning problems (ie a new application) and potentially problems with the previous grant (according to the club).

I thought the original structure cost around 150k? Maybe I'm wrong but the foundations were probably the most expensive part. It was around 2007 so would have been in the peek of the building boom. Then with repairs on top of that.

Almost sure the Railway End in the Showgrounds cost around 200-250k. So it's not a massive difference over all.

Sorry, I thought you meant this time. It should've been done probably the first time.

But now, with the possibility of returning grant fees included, it was too expensive to put in a concrete structure.

Only in Ireland would a temporary/ non permanent structure, without planning permission, be guaranteed for 25 years
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

I assume you mean the old structure that was there, cause the new stand is pretty much a like-for-like replacement and probably wouldn't need a fresh application.

What on earth is going on with that club. On Sunday their players put in a solid performance, Monday evening the manager is effectively sacked, or as close to, on the week of a Cup QF, and a League Cup Final not far away, then on Tues am a new stadium announced.

    Busy few days.

Did you ever consider he may have been sacked because he refuses to leave the old stadium?
