Handrail in the main stand in the City Calling Stadium (Flancare) for the away stand section.

New boundaries around the car park too. The Clubhouse has been given a little revamp also.

Lots of little things being done out this direction that really makes the place very impressive, as impressive as any other ground in the league imho.

They're planning on putting in a new astroturf pitch I believe, maybe even two. Depends on if they can get sports capital funding.

Where will they go? In behind or at the side?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

In the fields behind the main pitch I think. Lots of room out there, they'd be building dressing rooms too.

With both Derry and Drogheda qualifying for the UEFA Cup this year what are their plans for playing the home games does anybody know?
I would imagine both grounds are nowhere near up to standard.
Any word on developments at both their grounds. I seem to remember some money being given out in the North recently but didn't hear anything about the Brandywell.

Last time out Drogheda played in Dalymount. I'd be fairly certain The Brandywell will be fine for the first couple of rounds

    @ the Finn Harps lads:

Has the construction down on Millbrae got anything to do with the club? Only noticed as I drove by on Sunday.

Depends where you're looking at. The big site off the road (sort of behind the bus station) with founds laid and stuff lying in it is the new stadium.

The big building just gone up is the new swimming pool at the Finn Valley centre. Nothing to do with Harps, although might come in useful I suppose.

pretty strong rumours on the Bohs messageboard that they are talking to SDCC about using their Tallaght stadium.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

One of the recent Drogs match programmes had a section about the match vs Trabzonspur being played in Tallaght and from reading it you'd get a suggestion that it's already agreed the Europa game/s will be played there.

    .
Derry's ground should be ok to host a euro tie surely?

Drogs shouldn't even be hosting PD games, never mind Europe. But they can keep their european game in the same county as Oriel Pk is passed for hosting 2 rounds Prob get a better deal/more fans than going to Dalymount.

What round are Derry in? The Brandywell should be fine for the first two rounds, unless it's rapidly deteriorated.

Drogs away crowds in Tallaght suggest they probably wouldn't bring massive numbers to Dublin, but I suppose if it's a big enough draw they could make the numbers work. The safe option would seem to be Oriel, with Tallaght an option if they draw Liverpool or something.

They'd never consider Oriel realistically, though, would they? The rivalry seems to have intensified a huge amount since Dundalk got promoted.

How much are they willing to shoot themselves in the foot to keep up a rivalry?

I'd have thought playing in Oriel is the only way Drogs could make a profit from the European games which, given their attendances this season, might be the difference between maintaining their budget for the season or making big cuts in the summer. By all accounts, the Trabzonspor fixture was required to be in Dublin by the Turkish club.

Brandywell is absolutely fine for the first couple of rounds.

The current issue of the Phoenix has details of the accounts of the company that owns Longford Town's ground. They seem to have got a write off of 180,000 euros on their loan from ACC Bank which may give Bohs some hope in their dealings with Zurick Bank. It would be great if Bohs could stay and develop Dalymount the home of Irish soccer.

If I had a choice of renting a ground in Dublin v staying in your own county I would snap at using Drogs ground if same distances applied. Infact we played Malmo in Euro Cup in Utd Park in 1995, as the Oriel pitch (the grass one) was being laid and not ready, great atmosphere I recall, we packed out one side, and Drogs could do the same in oriel. Besides if they drew a decent team, Im sure a lot fo DLK fans would go to the game, I prob would. No probs at all. Think I saw Bohs play a european match in Oriel, late 70's, forget against who, possibly East German?

When driving on M1 the other day near Dlk, the electronic sign over the road said 'Drogheda 18 Mins' and you could see the floodlights of Oriel Pk.

Anway their choice, free to go with the option that they think suits them best.

I'd much rather see the match being played in Dundalk than Tallaght. I think there would definitely be a better crowd if played in Dundalk. We'll see when the time gets closer, I may have taken it up wrong about Tallaght being agreed on. I'll dig out the programme tomorrow and give it another read.

All assuming dundalkkk are open to renting the ground at all, and then at a reasonable cost.

Do stadia not have to pass a UEFA set test for the year that it is to be used in? Oriel passed in 2010 for Dundalk's campaign but would that licence still be valid today?
