Ah now i don't think so. In fairness there are a hell of a lot worse grounds in the country. I don't buy that when people say its a dive. Its an all-seater staduim. Tbh, i would have it up there in the top 3 loi grounds. I prefer going to it than Dalymount, Inchicore, etc. Good ground in a league of pathetic grounds. Would be missed if it went imo.

It's been sold, so Shels have to get out, and sooner rather than later, you'd imagine. Don't think there's been any solid news though. You get the odd rumour that they're looking at Whitehall or the AUL, but nothing definite.

Whitehall is not gonna happen after home farm members voted against the idea early last year. When we had our supporters meeting with the board at the start of the season a return to irishtown stadium was one of 2 options being looked at. the other being the AUL. Considering the club is from irishtown and the surrounding area thats the preferred choice but there's already opposition to the proposal from locals so i'd say its a pipe dream to be honest.

The AUL would be a disasterous move for the club considering there's no transport system but we prob d'ont have much of a choice as if we're to be kicked out of tolka in the next season or 2.

It's Ireland FFS. If you wanted to build a machine dispensing free million euro cheques the locals would still protest against it.

Irishtown Stadium is already built though.. Shelbourne playing there isn't going to change that.

Irishtown was built without seats specifically to stop Shamrock Rovers, or any senior club, moving in.

I don't think there's much in the way of spectator facilities there though so building would be still be necessary. They probably don't want crowds going in and out to matches either.

Unchecked inflation leading to the collapse of the euro, traffic congestion, even riots. Who'd want a machine like that in their neighbourhood?

what fuucking galaxy are you in! i'm here in front of my computer busting my sides at this crap!
One stand is decent, on another sidethere is a barn. with the worst excuse for lights i've ever seen. each step is different than the one before it so its like walking up stairs in a fun-house. then the walkway in front of the barn is is like a road done by the CoCo its so bad. i nearly had a faceful of curry chips on the way back to my seat. on the opposite side of the barn is a nice enough but mostly unused stand. and then opposite the chipper is indescribable!

When i read this first i though you said you wouldn't have this in the top three grounds, but when i read it properly i nearly couldn't believe it. it wouldn't be in the same diocese as the top three grounds.

In the medium term, they are moving to a Fingal Co. Co. football academy in Lusk. There should be an old thread in the Fingal section about it.. However, as far as I know, the long term plan is still to move to Swords.

Fingal are screwed if they move to Lusk

I was really worried about them when they came on the scene as a move to Swords would have been the Northside version of Rovers going to Tallaght.

    However Lusk
    Goodbye Fingal !!!!

    • 10 million Fingal complex has gone out on public display
    • To be built on council owned site to the north of Station Road in Lusk
    • The 5.7 hectare site will be home to a complex that includes an indoor pitch and two outdoor, floodlit pitches with a seating capacity close to 5,000
    • Originally it was to be just a soccer academy for the fingal community but it has now had a change of philosophy to open it up to other sports such as rugby and juvenile GAA
    • Parking for 210 cars. But for major events it will use a 700 car overflow carpark half a mile away.
    • One of the outdoor floodlit pitches will have permanent covered seating for 4,200 spectators with tempory seating for a further 560 people

Here is some links to The Fingal Independant about the sports facility that will hopefully become Sporting Fingals Home.

We weren't protesting about it, we just wanted it in pounds sterling instead...

It does indeed say that, but the artist's impression that goes with it clearly shows a large open stand, so it's a legitimate question to ask which is it supposed to be.

I guess what was written rather than drawn.
