Dundalk today received FIFA certification for the new pitch. More to follow when we get more info.

According to some members of the stadiums construction crew the stand on the opposite side is hoping to be started in the next few months

I dunno should it be in this thread but the advertising hoardings in Turner Cross on the Derrynane Road side are quality. They change every three minutes, and look really well too.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Derry - New 7,000 seater revamped Brandywell ?

Drogheda - Proposed new 10,000 seater gorund outskirts of town, plans abandoned for the time being

Limerick - moving into Markets Field in 2010, 7,000 seater

Pats - 8,000 seater ground in St michaels estate, inchicore, date unknown
You manage to list 6 grounds "under construction", all of which aren't and don't list one that is, namely Harps.

Sligo Rovers have prepared a five-year plan for the future development of the Showgrounds, including the provision of a 2,000 seater stand, with gymnasium and hospitality/ seminar rooms on the Jink's Avenue side of the ground.

Premliminary details of the plan were outlined at the Annual General Meeting at the Clarion Hotel and a special meeting of shareholders on May 21st next will be asked to 'rubber stamp' the proposals.

The club also intends to apply for planning permission for the developments, which also include a Footsall area adjacent to the all-weather pitch, and grass mini-pitches behind the Station end goals, as soon as possible, in order to be in a position to draw down capital funding when it becomes available to clubs.

    More here.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Is that where the blue seated stand is now? Is there spare ground behind that?
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Yes a full pitch length plus waste land around the bounderies. Massive room for development.

dunno if this counts as a stadium update but The Cross has had those changing ads installed on the Derrynane side (so can be viewed on tv) looks pretty good in fairness

They do, if they apply for them. LOI clubs are brutal at applying for them but thats their own fault. Look at the history of grants awarded and its fairly sizeable considering most clubs haven't (hadn't) a clue what they wanted in five years time.

I am not knocking any clubs but until construction starts I don't think proposals worth mentioning.

Construction underway on Harps new ground, its STILL on the filling stage which is frustrating as you see very little change for a few months.
Actual building work will hopefully start by May/June time.

Have you seen the Bowl yet? Bit of an improvement on Belfield Park, I'm sure you'll agree. Cost E1.5m or something like that. Ditto Athlone's new ground. Grants are available to do serious work if a club makes a competent application.

    Damn recession.

Fair point. But CT's point is negated, I think.

(And I know what you're going to say next. )

Edit - also, we've applied for planning to erect a cantilever roof to cover the whole of the stand in the Bowl.

has work started on the second stand in Tallaght yet ?

is it still realistic to expect it finished by June 2009 ?

are there also restrictions on how often Rovers can use the ground, and the maximum eventual capacity ?

I remember years ago (after actions by local residents I think)
the capacity was going to be capped at 10,000 and there was a limited number of midweek night games allowed, the number was small - would have required Rovers playing some midweek home games in another venue

anyone know if this is still the case ?

    Move over Derry City.

I suppose Oxford United Stars can claim to have as much right to use the Brandywell as Derry City FC.
