The Athlone stand could do with some clear plastic at the sides to protect from the midlands winds. Looks very open on the sides.
work starts in Terryland on Monday realignning and upgrading the lights with work on the new stand due to commence mid December with a finishing date of mid April. This will bring the seated capacity upto 4,000 with new entrances alos planned for the new stand.
When all th development is finished its hoped to have an almost 7,000 all seater stadium with all facilities.
ya, thats what im wondering too. the old stand holds 1700 approx, so if we are to have 4,000 when the new one if complete, that means at least 2300 seats and if my memory serves me right, its not gonna run the full length of the pitch, and where are the the other 3000 seats going (4000->7000)?

I Prefer the old one, said Pablo with a nostaligic tear in his eye.
Change is not good
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
from Ray Scott
Stand is behind schedule but out of our control - it is now down to the discussions between city council and Dept of Sport. The FAI are aware of the current status of the development as they are the fourth party in all of this as they are negotiating with Dep of Sport on level of grant aid. As for the floodlights, we know about the changes required and they are in the plan. It looks like th edevelopment of the new stand and other works will take place in two phases now and the work will be scheduled to ensure no disruption to games.
