Hunky Dorys Park - could be worse, we could be going to Old Trafford every other week

I said you could figure from the start it wasn't going to happen, but that doesn't stop you watching developments and updating your opinion as time goes by.

Nope, from "That's never going to happen surely?" to "Yep, that's never going to happen!" to general fun seeing anyone thinking Drogheda have a medium term future.

Foundations for roof at St Anne's End of Turner's Cross apparently almost finished, so structure should be up soon.

    Sounds good to me
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Looks very impressive - Turners X will be a similar standard to a lot of lower lge english club grounds when this is complete.

No question the best in the country when finished
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

Still a good few things that could be done to improve it now, that wouldn't need planning permission. I will like to see all the walls painted green and red so push the clubs colours. Perspex panels on the sides of all the stands, etc.

Yes, the Munster FA must be very proud.

I'm sure they are, and i'd extend that to each and every person involved in the game in Munster.

    (1) yes a lick of paint is always questioned from visiting neutral support to any Stadium. So bright colours look good.

    (2) No Perspex and transparent plastic/Glass are a nightmare to maintain and when it isn't, it shows in other Stadia. Opaque surfaces and easier and cheaper to maintain (sorry).

Most of the grants have only been approved due to our useage of the ground. I can dig it up if you like but the grant for the construction of the new stand was "to the Munster FA on behalf of Cork City Football Club", as have been several previous grants. The fact is the MFA would have no use for an 8000 all seater stadium themselves, it lies dormant most of the time and hosts junior football matches with one man and his dog at them. Also, CCFC directly funded the seating of the entire St Annes End and other improvements around the ground. The roof currently under construction was paid for by the proceeds from our friendly v Sunderland last season.

Yeah, it just really adds to the atmosphere when its not just bare concrete.

Yeah, you're probably right there. Just as long as its covered though.

You're right there in that the MFA haven't got a grant for Turners Cross in ten years, its all been Cork City FC. But to clarify, the game v Sundireland proceeds went to the new turnstiles. All the other grants, including St Annes End were through CCFC.

I assume the new roof is all grant-funded given the, shall we say, difficulties at Cork at present?

Looks good though. Shame the ground has no terracing though. Other than that, it's the only ground in the league that can match up to those in England.
