also will the new stand in Turners Cross have fully covered seating. Unlike the main stand if you know what I mean.

Judging by the pictures - no....

The roof slants up a lot and doesn't cover a lot of the seats closer to the pitch.

Corks Citys new shed looks a lot like our main stand.

The Shed End in the Showgrounds is to be demolished next season and replaced with a new stand

I cant see why not that WUFC can get a long term lease on the RSC. There is ample space for further development but only the right of the existing stand and behind the country goal.

As I mentioned on BTID before there is enough space to add another 750 seats (3 rows) onto the existing stand and the erection of a curved terracing (uncovered seating) for 2000 spectators which will bring seated capacity up to 5700 enabling the RSC to hold European games and underage internationals.

As I said, this is all furtehr down the line but if WUFC manage to get a medium to long term lease on the RSC, there is no reason why it cant happen.
A relevant point here; did anyone see Cagliari's ground the last couple of seasons? Its the ground where we played england in Italia 90. Basically they built two square terraces (seated) behind each goal, temporary if you will, in front of the existing terrace. Didn't look great but would this be a possibility in the likes of the RSC or Morton?

    It's big enough.
Our seated capacity in the ground will be in the region of 7,000
Peadar when is it due to be finished?

Looking very well. Well done to all at Athlone.

The floodlights in Terryland are due to be re-aligned to the corners of the
ground and onto the roof of the existing stand before Christmas.

The new stand should start in the New Year.

As someone who has much more than a passing interest in football stadia - I have found this to be an excellent thread. well done to all clubs concerned!

I have been to the following Eircom League grounds: Dundalk, Drogheda, Shels, Bohs, Sligo, Finn Harps, Derry, Athlone, Longford, and the old Waterford ground in 1974 - I can't remember its name, but believe it started with a "K" (Kilsomething Park - any links?) - to see the real Blues on my 21st birthday!

Thank you that sounds right. AFAIK Waterford beat us 1-0 in the old Texaco Cup and they had a classy English keeper whose name might have been Thomas. At my age my memory plays tricks. What was I saying there?

It was indeed! A freudian slip, perhaps!! I've always thought about Tesco longing to become Linfield's sponsors 'cause the colours are right! That day in Waterford (07/11/1974), the game finished in very dark conditions!!

More good news for clubs like ourselves that have been promised money from the government

    From the Irish Times

30% increase in 2007 sports funding

The Government has increased the annual sports budget to €316.87 million for 2007. This figure represents a 30 per cent increase on the figure allocated last year.

Some €87.8m is provided towards improving sporting infrastructure at local and regional level.

The redevelopment of Lansdowne Road will benefit to the tune of €76 million in 2007. By completion, the Government is expected to have contributed some €191 million towards the project with the remainder coming from both the IRFU and FAI.

Minister for Sport John O'Donoghue expects An Bord Pleanála to approve the redevelopment plans early next year and that the project will get under way later that year.

"Although it is not possible to estimate the length of time that will be required to complete the planning process, up to the present, the project has proceeded on schedule and I am hopeful that by the end of 2009, we will see the completion of the redevelopment of Lansdowne Road Stadium," he said today.

Not 100% sure because the fitting out phase will take a while.
Should be ready for the Setanta Cup anyway. (C'mon Derry!)

    In theory, yes.
    See this picture.
The roof goes as far as where the front row of seats will be.
