The stand in richmond was put up for the uefa cup game
it was taken down after that as the seats were only rented from the same crowd who did the seating on the terraces in lansdowne.
It was put back up for our last 3 home games and the seats are now owned by the club so its a permanent tempory stand
The talk at the last patron meeting was that there wont be much more done to richmond until a time when we're actually selling all or most of the 3000approx seats we have now

It'd be silly to invest anyway when ye'll be moving eventually.

Nope, that's going to be the home stand afaik. There's a bit of unrest at the moment over the season ticket plans actually - not sure if it's been resolved yet. Basically Utd decided that instead of giving season ticket holders the same reserved seat for every game they were just going to have a dedicated block for season ticket holders who could sit anywhere in the block. Absolute disgrace imo - I've been sitting in the same seat for the last 10 years with the same people around me.

Why's that a problem? They can still sit next to you

So what happens when you arrive late for a match? As it stands, I know that my seat is there so when I get stuck at work I can still make it albeit a little late. It smacks of the club not giving a toss about the season-ticket holders - many of whom have often paid in at the gate when the club has been cash strapped. For the sake of sitting down for an hour and doing out a seating plan, the club is losing a lot of goodwill.

AFAIK, about the only people that will be over there will be the home singers, more than likely in the first white block towards your left. Away fans to stay in the Main Stand.

Well you don't know it all then.
Many season ticket holders, non-singers to a man, are heading over to the new stand, including meself and everyone who normally sits around me.
The plan is to keep the away fans in the same place as always, but to be honest bar one or maybe two visiting sides I don't think there'll be enough to bother about segregating.

I saw it on TV roday. Kerr was interviewed on RTE news about Trapper Tony; you could see the new permanent stand in the background and it looks well.

At last, Richmond is starting to look like a complete football ground.

First official (i.e. non training game) in the Belfield Bowl was last night. It's similar to Belfield Park in that it's one main stand, with paving the rest of the way around and a hill the far side, but the stand is concrete, 1500 seats and has full lighting. Standing is permitted all the way around the pitch except the far side, where building work is still going on (to put in a TV gantry and press box). Behind either goal, there's two layers of "terracing" (OK, there's a step, but it is intended as terracing to increase the capacity). Toilets are much bigger than Belfield Park, the shop is bigger, the seats are nice (solid seats, decent space, don't fold out, although the back is very short). Even the poles don't block the view as much as in Belfield Park, and in any event will be gone in a couple of years. All in all, a massive improvement on Belfield Park, although I'd stil rather the location were the same.

Should have a couple of photos up in the UCD section later.

New electronic turnstiles will be in operation at Kingspan Century Park. New Press Box and electronic scoreboard will also be in action for the start of the season.

    Sounds good.

Whats was the pitch like? Belfield Park was usually a fantastic surface, wouldn't have such high hopes for the Bowl given the rugby use.

It was very sandy and a bit bobbly, certainly when compared to the Park. However, I'd say once the rugby season finishes, and the proper maintenance of the pitch gets underway, it'll be grand.

I think the wooden fence in Belfield Park was nicer for leaning against. I think the best place to watch a game is from the wheelchair section at the left of the stand.
