Looks good. Fair enough United Park rezoned but has planning been granted for the new stadium location?

Sorry, i wan't paying attention. How many will it hold when completed?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Objections to what have been withdrawn? Rezoning United Park or planning permission for the new ground?

Also, why's everyone in the ground in that montage wearing a red baseball cap?!

Seems their first game there will be against the mighty Derry City.

At least they might get a decent crowd that way......

Looks great, but why is it to be called the bigbadwolf stadium?

The rezoning of United Park to high-density residential is an absolute windfall , providing the finance for the new development , and a good bit left over.
The objections/observations for the new stadium have been withdrawn , following certain assurances from the developer regarding services ( water , sewerage etc.) and as said in an earlier post , final planning approval is expected early December. Finance is in place and the developer is ready to roll so 2009 season looks pretty good fot the first game.
Stadium will hold just over 10.000.
For those not familiar with the geography of the area , the "aerial" view would be taken from directly over the MI motorway , at the Drogheda South/Duleek interchange and the Car showrooms is Mc Cabes garage on the Duleek Rd out of Drogheda. That location is just under 20 mins from Dublin Airport.

Not being funny iceman, but will the current property 'slump' affect the project?
Anecdotal evidence of new housing estates more than half-empty, devlopers freezing projects etc

Im not in a position to say monutdfc , but I do know that regardless of the slumpm in the property market , that place is now worth a hell of a lot more than it was last week.

Ignoring the obvious pitfalls Drogheda is probably a more attractive a place to live for Dublin commuters than many places due to train & motorway. How far would these homes be from the train station?

BigBadWolf Stadium must be the Drogs equivalent of Welcome to Hell

Has the GAA ground been rezoned too? Any suggestion both grounds would be redeveloped together?

The whole area around the stadium is quite close to the train station , there was in fact discussion about operating a park and ride service at the stadium weekdays to facilate commuters unable to get parking at the train station. The new link road being built in conjuction with the stadium will provide access to the nearby M1 motorway.
No move at all on the GAA grounds , initially it was thought that both sites would be offered to the HSE as a location for a new hospital , but as nothing was coming back from the HSE the Drogs proceeded on their own.

I was down in the RSC on Tuesday and work is progressing nicely on the New Stand. Builders have finished the left hand side of the stand and are putting in the joists and roof support. The crame has moved over to the right hand side and have extended the metal base frame. Concrete panels are being slotted into place. Looking good to be finished by the end of January.

Any truth in the rumour the Shamrock Rovers will be desecrating sacred land by adopting Donnybrook as their home for 2008?

Still no word yet, seems to be 50:50 whether Donnybrook will have the honour of hosting the mighty hoops.
