Floodlights have been installed and tested at Mounthawk Park, so all set for Friday night.
The Munster FA are just short of pishing on each corner of the ground to mark their territory. Why the suddent assertion of their ownership. SDCC dont hop all over Rovers as a main tenant just in case people give credit to Rovers for the ground development!!Havent een the new Oriel lights on since theyve been refurbed. Have they been on for a test run? I remember when they were done under the Sky Sports stuff back in the 90s, the new lights felt like they floodlit the county and the neighbours were not at all pleased!

Rod, you can see the glow of the lights from readypenny.
Well obviously it will brighten the place up.....
Good to see the planning permission has been granted last week for the Showgrounds. A revised design was needed to take into account UEFA Cat 3 requirements and budget.
Geat ti say that there has been no objections or observations to the new development as part of planning process. Esp for a sizable development in a residential area of town.
More info here from end of last year https://www.sligorovers.com/stadium-...november-2025/
Key dates from the article:
The next steps are clearly defined. By March 2026, the Club expects to have agreed the legal documents with the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport for the LSSIF grant award. In March 2026, the Club will submit the final design and updated cost plan to the Department requesting approval to proceed to tender. By April 2026, the Club expects to be authorised to proceed to tender, a phase likely to take five months. In September 2026, the Club expects to be in a position to submit a tender recommendation to the Department requesting approval to appoint a main contractor for the project. By October or November 2026, the Club expects to be authorised to proceed to construction.

Break your heart how it will still be a year until green light for construction
I would take your hand off for a years wait.
Bohs and harps are locked in the deadly council death grip, basically talk lots, do nothing, still costs thousands.
Just to add on this, mentioned on another thread, the new Floodlights are an amazing quality in oriel park, anyone who watched on Virgin last night would have seen the difference compared to previous years.
Some difference, and a new pitch too that looks and plays well.

How did ye get on with the new handrail?

Trigger Warning for you.
We also improved the Wheel Chair viewing area. And shock horror, its also on trial....
It must be a difficult time for yourself and the family.
Ah, I'm only joking Kiki. With all the anger posted on this site recently, especially in the Nations League thread, it's just a bit of craic.
The pitch and lights look great.
Incidentally, a new small stand was erected in Terryland over the winter for wheelchair users in front of the old clubhouse.
St. Colmans Park capacity to be fixed to about 2,200 to 2,500 for Fridays visit of Cork City. Away allocation is now fixed at 500!
We don't make enough use of the Irish language at LOI games IMO. Go to a Cymru Premier game and you'll hear a lot of the announcements being bilingual, even in areas where there isn't much Welsh spoken (e.g. Haverfordwest).
We're lucky enough to have audible PA system in English, so audible that it could deafen you in Oriel at times.
Dundalk pitch fully repaired yesterday, all eyes on the visit of Waterford on the 13th !

Would ye not trial some kind of fence between the pitch and the away fans?
We can test the levels of scumbaggery of each club. Precedence is set, clubs pay for the damage their fans cause.
While they need to step up to the mark after what happened, credit to Drogheda on this. It's only right they pay for the damage, but just because something is right, doesn't mean it always happens.
The pitch being fixed so quick, the FAI handing down disciplinary measures and Drogheda agreeing to pay for the problems, all means the government/Minister can take a backward step in any stance against football in this country which may have come from the incident.
