Lets see how much respect Delaney has for the 'football family' now. He knows what needs to be done, and it isn't 'stepping aside'.

The Politicians have the knives out and a target that is'nt them and makes them look good grandstanding.
This won't go away until entire board resigns and Delaney gone.
They need to get on with it at this stage.

According to this, funds may be allocated, but may not be drawn down. https://twitter.com/emmetmalone/stat...49163429048320

    So not quite as bleak.

I suspect this is being done to ratchet up pressure on the FAI to dump Delaney (and possibly what's left of the Board) and will be sorted out long before any of those projects see the light of day.

Dundalk’s new CEO made an address in the programme last night, said 'improving the stadium facilities' would be a priority in his tenure.

Not much more specific details on this (and a long list including almost every area would need looked at) and we have heard this before, but if they have spent 500k on the YDC to date, maybe the next phase would be spectator improvements, we can only live in hope..............

Pity, but with that and the constant call's for housing in Dublin, timing just not on Pats side on this one I suspect

The council wouldn't have had to put a penny in though. Stadium, houses and amenities all for nothing.

Except handing over a multi million euro site. I don't think the project ever got FAI backing either, that's an influencer with politicians and will hold a lot more sway that a few local reps.

If Pats claim that their plan will not cost the public a penny, it means that the site they want has no value. Really, lets get real, and then maybe some progress can be made.
Dalymount is publicly owned now, so sport capital money would not be going to the FAI. Tesco may be more of a delay in this case.

Some shelter from the rain for about 10 away fans.

It didn't get FAI backing as the FAI didn't even know about it. The club went out on their own on it, I felt it was a bad idea at the time not involving them but it wasn't that long the club had publicly spoken out against the FAI after thw whole 5k thing so I don't think support would have been forthcoming.

I was aware of that and that's why I said it was unlikely to succeed, irrespective of any local politicians coming on board.Whatever the merits of the concept it always had a bang of something rushed together and put in the public domain to pressurize DCC into handing over the site.
Like it or not there is a protocol for doing this stuff and effectively bypassing the FAI was never a runner
