Dalymount redevelopment delayed, who could've seen that coming?
No way will it be finished for 2022! At least not all of it. 2022 is probably the date set for completion of phase 1: main stand and pitch.
And the original plans are changing. Rather than a 10k stadium as first planned it will now be 8k to cut costs.
And the initial promise of bars in the stand are now sounding a bit sketchy. Surprise, surprise.
"It's also hoped that potential issues over the sale of alcohol on what is DCC property can be cleared to allow both Bohs and Shels earn bar revenue."
It isnt true? if it were 10,000 all-seated then im pretty sure it would be the biggest capacity league ground, even at 8k it would be top of the heap too unless/until SDCC add a stand in Tallaght that is over 3000 capacity. Depends on how you are defining biggest i suppose
Dundalk to lay a new pitch in the offseason curtesy of Rovers due to fire damage on the old surface.
The FAI's 180k could come in useful!
Withhold their share of the gate, might persuade them to do something about it
They should withhold dundalks share of the gate as well until they sort out their security. Allowing both sets of fans to bring pyro into the gorund. Shocking stuff.
Its only going to be an 8k stadium and the new stand in tallaght will make that 8k too since its being built so tallaght can be cat 4 and that requires 8k capacity. So itll be at best joint biggest if its opened fully completed which i doubt it will be.
Id imagine we, rovers, are going to have to pay to fix oriels pitch. Would i be wrong in saying a flare was on the pitch earlier in the season too but it didn't catch fire? Was the pitch dryer than normal yesterday or something? Ive been really sick last few days so haven't gotten round to watching the game yet so ive no idea what conditions were like
You doubt it will be fully completed and you have first hand experience of issues surrounding ground development delays but who will have the biggest ground, when both are still pending builds is taking the p*ssing match rivalry with Bohs a touch to the ridiculous.
It's not a ****ing contest I was just pointing out how whoever wrote the article clearly had done little to no research before making the statement. Also the Tallaght and Dayler builds are in completely different stages of planning, tallaght has funding allocated, site notice up and planning granted, dayler has a concept design and a potential rough start date and thats it. So to claim they're in the same boat is taking it a touch to the ridiculous.
