Don't worry, if it's anything like the EA Sports Cup final in Oriel you've to pay for them but they'll rip them up again once you're finished with them.

Actually, not quite analogous. If it was UEFA would have told Dundalk they can't sit in the dugout and have to sit on the edge of the pitch instead.

They passed UEFA standards, but more importantly Kenny Shiels still has to approve

There was also a section of black seats in the main stand that I've never seen before, are these new VIP seats perhaps? They look out of place with the random smatterings of green, white, yellow and red.

It'll be a very good stadium when DCC finish the other two stands.

Gives a good alternative to the Aviva and Dundalk or whoever won't be moaning about gate figures too low when playing in Europe

Sorry to be pedantic but its actually the SDCC's stadium. They're starting the process of building a 3rd stand now but I think we're a while away from 4 stands.

Its a great move once the Stadium is complete but shame as I always liked Tolka

The first time being in Tolka was for a friendly v Spurs on an absolutely poxy midweek night in winter. Tolka could have been a great community ground, but I was pretty shocked by how bad it was the last time I was there (about 2 yrs ago). I remember going to see Shels vs Cork which was a league decider about 10 yrs ago, standing on the riverside stand with the Cork fans, and a better atmosphere you could not want.

However, if it means a state-of-the-art Dalymount, and a flourishing Bohs on the Northside, then I'll gladly see Tolka go down the swanny.

I'll miss Tolka, and the Riverside in particular. Some great days in there. I still say this is a positive move for both clubs though in the long term, as long as the new stadium is designed to help create an atmosphere. I think that is massive for the growth of Irish clubs.
I can understand why Shels fans would not like this but Tolka is crumbling and there is no benefit to staying there.

I've fond memories of Tolka Park. When I started going to Dundalk games with my Dad in the 70's, Tolka was one of the away games we always took in. Of course, it was Home Farm then. They had a lovely side back then and played a great brand of football.

Tolka Park is part of LOI heritage and it is sad to see it go.

    According to the42...
Construction work on Dalymount Park is unlikely to begin until 2018 or 2019 with the first phase of the redevelopment involving the installation of an artificial pitch and the construction of a new 4,500-seater main stand.

Club offices, a warm-up area, community rooms and a new ‘Hall of Fame’ museum will also be housed in the stand while the plans include new entrances to the ground from St Peter’s Road and Connaught Street.
The construction of seating behind both goals, and a second stand on the Connaught Street side, will only commence following the redevelopment of the neighbouring Phibsborough Shopping Centre.

The last paragraph is what worries me. I hope i'm wrong, but I think we'll be waiting about 10 years to see anything more than 1 stand at the new Dalyer.

One stand of that size would be a death knell for any atmosphere at the new stadium. It would be intolerably stupid to build such a big stand - it would be half empty even on a good day, would look terribly empty on tv, and trough its mediocre atmopshere, would discourage reattendance. Is i too early to submit to any of the involved parties that if this plan is true then their making a terrible mistake?

I read elsewhere that the ground is being moved 90deg, so if they were to do up the Peter's St side, then couldn't the current Jodi be retained until further redevelopment is possible/feasible.

I had hoped that the reconstruction would involve the current National school using the premises which I believe would be a better use of space. Really the FAI/DCC need to make this work properly. There are so many good examples abroad of properly planned stadia. It cannot be that hard to follow.

An excellent statement by Shelbourne it has to be said. Although it's gone into disrepair, I think we'll all miss Tolka really. It has it's place in Irish footballing history, and it's been home to some magical nights for many clubs over the years.

Will Bohs be moving to Tolka next year during redevelopment?

That's the plan anyway, according to the Irish Sun

"It [Dalyer] will be levelled in October 2017 after Bohs’ final home game of the season. It is envisaged the two clubs will groundshare at Tolka for the 2018 and 2019 seasons at least."
