A bar would be great for Limerick... When it scheduled to be opened?
Its a new build that's the third worst ground in the premier.
And only fits 1700 home fans.
And only has one entrance.
And no toilets.
It's not really angst but let's call a spade a spade like.
The only saving grace is al that open tarmac space can be used for temporary stands I guess.
But when the saving grace of your new ground is an option to copy wexford youths it leaves you a bit meh.
1300 Limerick fans crammed in to the main stand sounds great to me. After 25 years of not having a pot to **** in and not a semblance of a permanent home i won't be losing much sleep over not having a toilet outside the main stand or a 5000 seater stand for away support!
1,300 fans in one stand certainly isn't an issue and if anything would be great. It just seems the whole thing is being done in half measures. Short term it will be great but long term you can already see issues.
None of the fans wanted a state of the art facility but the basics even seem to be being skimped on.
All the talk of another great sporting facility in the city now is rubbish talk. Throw basic stands in a few junior grounds in the city and they would already be ahead of the Markets Field.
At this stage only time will show it. The fans on numerous occasions have voiced their concerns and been told pretty much that it is out of the fans and the clubs hands so put up or shut up.

I can see your point and agree with you to a certain extent but reality has to come in to this.at the moment we are a club who have enjoyed little or no success in the last twenty years, have a small fan base and are only surviving due to the financial assistance from pos.Our backs are to the wall and only for the LEDP we would be up s*it creek big time.
Guaranteed it will be people like this with the attitude oh its all fine beggers cant be choosers and all this crap will be the first on here and other places whinging about how awful it is when its done. I'd even disagree with Jofspring when he said it will be great short term.
I almost wish I hadn't asked. Seriously though, is this a one time deal with LEDP or will they own MF? will you be able to develop the place over time or will that be in LEDPs hands? looking at the plans, there seems to be room for expansion if required or am I wrong?
It will be the LEDP's from now on to rent to whoever. We will just be one of the tenants and have been told we have use of it for 22 games a season. If for example we were to do well some season in the future and we're expecting a big attendance. Say 2,500 home fans and a travelling support of 500-600 we would have to move to Thomond Park. The same if we ever managed to make Europe.
Any pictures of the ground and its stands?
How many times has this happened in the last 30years tell me....
