Congrats to everyone at the club! Great news for Irish football,If every club could do the same the league would be in a much better place!
I see recently up the North alot of grant money from the goverment was made available for Gaa,soccer and rugby. windsor park is to be redevolped as is a few of the leagues clubs.
Pity our goverment didnt make money available to our league when there was plenty about. Cant see any money going into the league from the goverment in these times!

The flood lights in Turners Cross are getting an over haul at the moment. Due to be finished in the next few weeks, held up initially by high winds. It is meant to increase the amount of light given out significantly.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Was up in Shamrock Park (Portadown) for our recent Setanta Cup game and they have a class main stand and another nice stand behind one of the goals. Fantastic facilities and from talking to a few lads up there the British government gives them a massive 80% of funding for new developments. Real pity its not the same down here.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

A big part of the problem is LOI / Football clubs at all levels not applying for the grants. The government cant give out a grant if its not asked for.

A big part of the problem NOW is LOI / Football clubs at all levels not getting the grants they applied for and were awarded.

It's the same up in Cliftonville, we were up there at the start of the season, they have a really nice away stand behind one goal and a class stand behind the other, ****hole at the 2 sides of the pitch tho

Newry have a nice wee ground too, pity that less than 200 fans take advantage of it every other week.Makes you wonder if having great facilities is the silver bullet for the LOI ??

Could be worse now they have been relegated, and that "championship" division seems worse than the first division...

Maybe I'm not reading this properly, but, if I'm not mistaken, the reply you made about the government not giving out grants a LOI club, was in reply to the government actually giving out a grant to a LOI club?

Jesus wept! What is wrong with this country? Eight years to build a 6000+ football ground? Just think of all the revenue foregone because of delays (most of which I presume were not Harps' fault)...

It's a good news story when the league needs all of them it can get. Here's to your shiny new stadium!!

Will it be built in phases or all at the same time?

I wouldn't be surprised if we're paying for it as well.

If getting funding was an Olympic sport, Northern Ireland would win the gold medal every time.

    Kudos.

Great news for them alright. The league would be much the better if more clubs could do the same. The league would be much the better if more regions of the country were involved in the league as well.

    A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.

In fairness, Harps is the kind of club where a stadium like that should thrive.

I just think that grounds need to have a bar to thrive in LOI.
