and got threatened with a ban from the site
What also ****es me off is that we can get 30 thousand plus at an Ireland Game yet sometimes we dont get that
at all the national league games combined. Fans wonder why we are getting tanked by Cyprus
yet dont support there own league
National league success = International success

For the guy who said no Eircom League players are good enough for the International team,Kevin Doyle was playing in it 2 season's ago and look at him now.
How can you say they arent good enough unless you give them a chance?
Gamble should be in the starting team ahead of Kilbane for a start.

And English lower league players are??

18 months ago, Kevin Doyle was a NL journeyman, now, the press and Staunton are begging that he is fit for Wednesday. A lot of the players playing here, and in England are not good enough to play international football, but there are players good enough to play for us in both countries, and we should broaden our options, rather than sticking with the "no players" whinge, when it's blatantly false.

name the players that are good enough to play for Ireland?
Given that fact that they are all only human and would want to be earning as much money as possible why arent they playing in england where the money is? is football that much of a vocation and a calling for them?
I dont think the EL is crap I just think to say we should replace what is there already with EL players just cause they play here is ******. up to international standard but yet couldnt make the step up to a lower league team in englands first team. well thats just a lie.
a league that can be won in the court and not on the pitch would suggest that its biggest enemy is within rather than anyone wearing a green wig or shaking a shamrock.

Whatever about the argument of who is good enough now. The national
side is only going one way unless the national league is of standard to
produce players of International class regularly
The International team supporter needs to recognise this
    and act accordingly

I agree with this, but simply putting el players in the team now will not help to achieve that objective.

First we need to build better, bigger teams and stadiums, create a viable football infrastructure which will procuce these players.

Given that our clubs have recently performed better in Europe than our national team, that is clear evidence that there are player here more than capable of performing well for Ireland.
How many of the current Ireland squad have European experience at their clubs? And if anyone thinks Portsmouth's reserves is better than the top of the EL it just shows that Ireland fans are clueless.

nedder etc: anyone who wears a wig, a stupid hat, sings 'Ole Ole' or gets their face painted is an areshole. It's just my opinion, so what? If you're happy looking like a complete spa on a dayout concession that's your perogative.

Billy, never said i wear one, It just doesn't bother me in the slightest, and can't understand how it upsets you. Actually, i think its a deeper underlying problem that upsets you, like following english teams etc and a lack of interest in our local game, and i actually agrre with you on that

Why did Richard Dunne get a standing ovation by a section of the Irish support when he was dismissed and we were losing?,seems to me half the support there were only interested in the beer and the suntan.

Not necessarily, Brazil, Argentina and any half decent South American traditionally leave their very own leagues. Premiership= over rated. Serie A=corrupt. La Liga is very good but I don't see Spain winning World Cups etc

In a vast majority of those leagues you describe,
the players come through their own national leagues before they move away. They can compete at a very high level at home if they choose to do so and
still play in the national side. They dont solely rely on foreign leagues to
provide their players as they have home grown stars too.
They can stay at home and earn a living if they want and dont have to move
    away.
Irish players dont have that option. They have to move away as there is little
comparison between the benefits at home and abroad
The above leagues have a bigger stream of quality players as a result of providing home grown players and picking exiles

we definately need to try and develop the talent at home (both players and the league itself) as the players going over to england are not enough for us to have the pool required but to say we need bigger stadiums! is that for all the supporters who are left outside the eL grounds ticketless every weekend and unable to afford the large prices being demanded by the touts? we need better facilities and set-ups not bigger stadiums! even cork couldn't fill turners cross on friday night and they are one of the best supported teams in the league!

BTW i'd be interested to know what eL players we have who can make to step up? we surely have to have at least one or 2 - a centre half maybe or a midfielder. kevin doyle can't just of been turned into a good footballer in the 15 months or so he has been in england so there has to be some who should be given consideration before the likes of st. ledger and his ilk. hasn't there?
