Managed france badly, failed to qualify despite having two home games to Bulgari and Israel, and then blamed it all on Ginola
Lyon can win the league without any manager, and it was mostly Le Guen work that set the ball rolling there
and Liverpool, well 7 years into six year plan and all that
So people actually think that Vennables won't get it?
Thats interesting......
The deepest layer of human thinking and feeling somehow knows that God must exist - Pope Benedict XVI
" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"
the same france that under different management failed the qualify for 1990 world cup and were knocked out in the first round of Sweden 1992. In the 1994 qualifiers he beat Israel away 4-0, beat Sweden 2-1 at home and defeated all the lower ranking teams in the group. Yeah he managed them terribly...
the same Bulgaria that finished fourth in the subsequent World Cup, Sweden who were also in Frances group finished Third.
no point even replying to such a stupid statement.
By that logic then, it was mostly Houlliers work that set the ball rolling for Frances 1998 World cup win.
the same plan which won Liverpool 2 league cups, FA cup, UEFA cup, Charity Shield, Premiership Runners-up and consistent top 5 finishes.
Yes, Houllier is clearly inept to manage a team of Irelands stature !
Well said Ruben, agree with everything. He may not be everyone's favourite for the job but to dismiss him on the basis of his record is ridiculous.
You can point at the WC 94 qualification as a failure (notwithstanding the fact that they were in pole position with 2 to go so he was obviously doing something right) but the Bulgarian winner was a freakishly good goal - when you concede a goal like that in those circumstances you just know your number's up. It was over 14 years ago and I think it's fair to say Houllier has taken a few things on board since then.
Tigana is now 8/1 on Paddypowers. The bookies are manipulating the market for their own gain. Complete joke. They are going throw Zindane into the mix before Tuesday. Probably on Saturday when most punters are at home.
El Tel has now drifted out to 5/2 with Paddy Power. Might be worth a punt at this stage.............as far as some are concerned he's still a shoe in for the job!
There'll be snow on that one.
According to FAI.ie the manager vacancy has been filled![]()

What was Dunphy saying on the RTE lunchtime news? I caught the end of it where he said that according to his sources Venables is all but selected.
