At least John O Shea would be dropped anyway.

I only watched upto seeing the Hornet's goal against Hull....so never saw the Owls goals!
I got the feeling O'Leary was definitely putting himself in the shop window......but my God....he can talk for ages and say absolutely nothing....should go into politics instead.........or the FAI perhaps!![]()
Tact is for people who are not witty enough to be sarcastic
Some other candidates that have slipped under the radar somewhat:
Tommy Söderberg (had a pretty good record with Lagerback and Sweden)
Sepp Piontek (took the Danes to their first World Cup Finals)
Kjetil André Rekdal
Nils Arne Eggen (the most successful coach in Scandinavian football)
Trond Sollied (one of a select group of managers to win a LEague title in 3 seperate countries)
Kom Igen, FCK...
troussier...all the way..get a P.I to track himdown in the oman!!
'How can I hate women, my Mums one!!!' Chris Finch
I saw O'Leary on Goals on Sunday as well. Christ - he can still natter on like an oul one. He'll have no trouble with the Late Late interview if required.
There's no doubting he's a likeable and affable bloke but would have major reservations about him as our next manager particularly at this vulnerable time.
Quoting years at random since 1975
Yeh, O'Leary is very self absorbed. He loves the limelight. Reckon he'd love the Ireland job. Can't see him doing the Bolton gig!
What if we are thrown a total curved ball tomorrow and Stan gets a stay of execution? How far fetched an idea would that be?
'And Crouch must score'
Bora has an impressive CV, but the only reservation I have with him is that he has never managed at international level in europe. Unquestionably the european region is the hardest to qualify from to get to a World Cup, so it would be a vast step up...even for him.
I'm not discounting him...he just wouldn't be my first choice for the reason I've said above.
...In the Tom Humphries piece NeilMcD posted a bit back he says Otto Rehhagel is retired. That's completely wrong. He is still managing Greece and last week led them to another Euro Championship Finals, where they will defend the trophy.

My God, imagine Laughing Bill trying to get his tongue round those names (as opposed to up Dunphy's....no, don't say it, You're obsessed). The headline writers would also have great fun with the last two names in particular if things went pear shaped.
Looks like I'd say either Souness or O'Leary. Would the large Irish Celtic following have any problems with the former?
Me, I'd like Big Ron. Did a great job at guess where and would be an ideal international manager. Larger than life, articulate, knows his football and a good communicator. Not sure what he's up to (no pun intended) at the moment.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
The thing is we are are not at all an attractive team to manage. Im sure most pf the guys in the running, the likes of Houllier, Van Gaal and Jewell wont touch the job. The job is even more unattractive now than when Mick McCarthy took the job and certainly when Brian Kerr took the job. I have my fingers crossed that i will be surprised with the candidate choice but i feel it will be between Dave O'Leary and John Sheridan. Not a major fan of O'Leary and i feel its too early for Sheridan.
Making more ridicoulous tv shows where he completly embarresses himself. I hope you were joking when you mentioned him, all Big Ron should be doing is working on his tan. Id like to see a top quality European manager given the job with a talented up and coming Irish person as assistant, perhaps Sheridan. Also id sack Givens while we are at it and actually give the Irish under 21 job to someone that could possibly get the Irish job in the future, someone like Mark Kinsella that is only now starting out in the world of coaching.Me, I'd like Big Ron. To be honest I think that we are an attractive team to manage at the moment. Despite being a terrible manager Staunton has created a squad with a strong nucleus that, with the right management, should qualify for the WC, bar getting an awful draw. The FAI have money coming out of their arse so they would be getting a decent salary. Also it does appear from the outside that Irish football is in a terrible situation so any possible incumbent could quite possibly be hailed as our saviour, dragging us from being also-rans in our qualifying group to competing in the WC.
I think we should take a leaf out of Southamptons book and look at proven management in other sports.
I propose Richie Bennis from Limerick hurling fame. Rabel rousing and a darling with "de meeja". A tactical genius and proven experience with under achieveing teams. Has his own mind and takes no bullsheet. World Class!
With Richie, we will be unstopable.
Who is this guy, Trapper Tony?
Read yesterday that he has taken on the Director of Football role at some non-league outfit.
EDIT: Halesowen Town from the Southern League Premier Division. We've no chance of getting him to make the step-down to working with the FAI![]()

speaking of the Yugo connection, Srecko Katanec has been bandied about as well by a number of the daily rags. Played for Yugoslavia in 1990 (and 98 I think) Got his native Slovenia to Euro 2000 and WC 2002. Currently managing Macedonia.
Can he speak English
