in usa 94 mcateer was ordering pizza and someone asked him ,when it arrived how he would like it to be cut-into 4 or into 8 pieces.

McAteer said "4 cos i'm not that hungry".

Money is the problem especially with Houllier who is on €1.5M and would cost a huge amount in compensation. Id say your looking at between 7/8M over 4 years including compensation to the french.

Burley looks to be the new Scottish manager, would we be happy with someone along the same lines, or just happy that this version of water torture is over?

Someone who has a similar record to Burley would be fine by me (if we don't get Houllier). I would have preferred someone with international experience, but at this stage beggars can't be choosers.

One thing is with Venables is you hear all about the 'feel good' effect, the players love him etc etc but they didn´t perform any better on the pitch.

He might be okay with our team where the player's peak of preparation is to be in a feel good frame of mind.
It's top of their list of managerial qualities.

The BBC are saying that as of Thursday morning, Lawrie Sanchez has had no official contact from the FAI and Billy Davies' interview isn't scheduled until early next month.

I've just read that article and I'm sure one of the Irish papers had stated as fact that Sanchez had been interviewed. This could drag on for another few weeks yet if interviews are due to take place in Feb.

    From the BBC on Tuesday:

It is understood that Givens and his recruitment colleagues Don Howe and Ray Houghton have still to hold interviews with a couple of candidates, reported to be former Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez and ex-Derby County boss Billy Davies.

I'm sure I read it in some Irish papers too.

That's not really surprising, the only name I've heard him mention has been Allardyce

Houllier must have confirmed to the 3 amigos that he will be staying at FFF. Out to 28/1 on Betfair with single bets 0f 300/400 a time going on El Tel.

If someone at the FAI backs Houllier at that price they can afford to pay him the extra money.

It looks like we're at endgame now.

He is now 50/1 on Betfair! The funny thing is Venners is still 11/10 which suggests Houllier out but El Tel not over the line yet.
