chunks of it were filmed right outside the window here at work last year, plenty of grimey alleys and scenic rooftops i suppose. scores of weird yank star-gazers lined up trying to catch a glimpse of famous people. i think i'll see it but the ar$e-clenchingly bad moments that drum red alludes to are far too pervasive in hollowood movies these days. i like nicholson though and i've heard wahlberg does very well in this one. if you like alec baldwin at all check out 'glengarry, glenross,' also with jack lemmon, kevin spacey, and al pacino. great film!

    'glengarry, glenross,' great film!!!

    Blake: What's the problem, pal?
    Dave Moss: You -
    [correcting him]
Dave Moss: Moss. You're such a hero, you're so rich, how come you're coming down here wasting your time with such a bunch of bums?
Blake: You see this watch? You see this watch?
    Dave Moss: Yeah.
Blake: That watch costs more than you car. I made $970,000 last year. How much you make? You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy? I don't give a ****. Good father? **** you! Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here - close! You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit? You don't like it, leave.

    Dave Moss: What's your name?
Blake: **** you. That's my name.

brilliant, Leo and Mark Walhberg were excellent and Jack is Jack - if you've not seen the original then I'd recommend the first one. I've not seen 2 or 3 but am gonna get round to watching em.

enjoyed this film, usually cannot stand the geeky Di Caprio, but he is pretty good in this. Had a good chuckle at the end of the film

I seen "The Departed" last night, great stuff. Some really funny moments. The over the top cursing was very funny. Alec Baldwin - .
I'd seen "The Devil Wears Prada" the night before. That was also good.

ya, good film bar the ending, thought the last 10 mins were a real let down. very poor, plus the "irish" t-shirt on jack nicholson. bit too cheesy. some day they will get an irish gangster movie right.

first thing that hit me, was whitey and connolly. gave him a free reign to do as he pleased. when they got off the T at south station, couldn't get any more obvious than that.

great acting, good cast, decent story up until the end, bit cheesy. 3/5 for me, but worth seeing in the cinema.

Its not an irish gangster movie. Its a gangster movie and they happen to be Irish. Knowing Oirish americans thats exactly the type of t-shirt they'd wear. (Not all of you lads, calm down!)

Oh and I loved the ending

The Departed is nothing to do with Whitey Bulger (who incidentally is meant to be in hiding in Mayo) Scorsese has merely put the Infernal Affirs story in a Boston setting.
thats crap, they said before it was galway. the size of mayo, someone would notice a yank moving it with a quare one fairly quickly and start to ask questions, the locals are the best detectives there....i.e. no one has a clue!

So you still don't think its an Irish gangster movie about James J Bulger?

yep always interested me, as i had read up a lot on it when i was in boston years ago, and i knew that The Departed written by a southie guy was pretty much based on him.

Anyway cant wait to see what he looks like now, supposedly sick too so be interesting to see what happens.

    Everyone grows old I suppose:
