Its a pity its not colder as the colder the water the better also. I am sure he is in the ice baths also.

Doyle has an ankle injury...why didn't he put his foot in a bucket of iced water instead of going for a dip in the sea. It would seem the easier choice and more logical no??

Just an observation like, I'm not having another moan at Staunton!

Cause the sea also has healing powers and sea water is better than tap water or a bucket of ice.

I'd love someone with a Scientific background to come on and explain to me in plain English why the sea would be better than a bucket of iced water for an ankle injury with no skin wound coz it just sounds like an old wife's tale to me.

Could you lads meet halfway and agree that maybe a bucket of seawater would work?

Anyway here's the proof. It's on the web so it must be true

Its also much more enjoyable to go for a swim than it is to put your ankle in a bucket.

I wasn't trying to drag it off topic or even arguing about it really. Just thought it sounded daft!

Does not sound daft at all in my view. Hopping into the sea wont suddenly make a difference but it can speed up the process especially if its internal bleeding as it thins the blood.

aye coz iced water won't thin it at all....the sea and all it's pollutants are the only thing that can somehow do that. C'mon man.

I never said Iced water wont thin it. YOu are asking a question and both Stuttgart are trying to give you an answer and yet you are responding in sarcy agressive tones. I am only trying to help you with the question you pose.

Chill Neil, nobody is being aggressive. It's hardly an issue more to the point.

All I said was that I failed to see the difference with dipping your foot in the sea or a bucket of iced water/bath for a non wound injury. You then said the sea has this mysterious healing power. Stuttgart provided someone's blog and I said it sounded like an old wife's tale. None of us are right, none of us are wrong. It was just a little side issue.

    Don't take things so seriously.

I was only taking the p1ss when I posted the blog, but I respect Kerr's belief. Based on absolutely zero scientific evidence!

Salt acts as an anti-inflammatory too, hence the sea's mysterious powers. But most importantly we're a rugged island race and heading into the waves comes to us far more naturally that relying on new-fangled remedies involving buckets and ice.

Changing the subject from Portmarnock beach for a sec. On the topic of withdrawals, Sionko and Galasek are out for the Czechs. Sionko is a right winger off Rangers who scored 2 and set up the other 3 of the Czech's 5 goals so far. Galasek is their holding midfielder. They both started the Slovakia match.

Just reading about Terry Dixon in The Irish Times. Anyone else reckon Staunton's a jinx? It started with Robson's brain tumour and seems to have gathered pace since then. Anybody know a good witch doctor?

Glad to hear we're not the only ones getting hit with injuries. That Sionko guy had a very good guy in Slovakia, might mean a weaker player on their right hand side........come on duffer!
