Ireland has played about an hour max all season and by all accounts has been poor. He's tiny as well. Carsley isn't making the trip it appears.

I'd go for any two of Douglas, Miller & Quinn. I'm a fan of Quinn so am biased towards his inclusion.

But realistically I think Staunton will pick O'Shea & Miller. I really think KK's inclusion in CM in Germany was a one-off.
Just being realistic to be honest Stuttgart, there is no way Stan will start with neither Kilbane or O'Shea in CM, therefore I'd prefer to have OS at left back than in midfield. The more I think about it, we really need someone to step up to the mark in CM in the next two games, particularly the czech game. I know carsley isnt a long term answer but considering our huge weaknesses in CM, its crazy that he isnt at least included in the squad.

So, I suppose the question is will Stan persist with a failed midfield combo, place his trust in untried but natural midfielders, or do a bit of each?

My expectation is that he'll do a bit of each: pick O'Shea and one other (not KK) in midfield. Personally I'd be happier if O'Shea started midfield rather than Kilbane. If Carr is indeed injured then Kilbane could play left-back.

Kevin Foley has been on standby so I guess he'll be called up if Carr is out.

As an aside, my mate & I were chatting ages ago about Sven and the sheer genius of the hoax that he perpetrated on the English FA. Nothing could stick on him. For ages, if the media collectively said that X had to be in the squad, X would be in the squad. The media would then have no leg to stand on. Stan should do the same for his own sake. Dunphy calls for Miller, give Dunphy Miller, and so on.

the FAI are currently in talks with MI5 and the US secret service, as well as some local tribesmen around the Coventry/ greater manchester area. They are confident they will be in contact with Lee Carsley in time for the Slovakia game in Croke Park.

On a serious note, does anyone have any idea why the official Fai Website has no store? (not easy buying irish gear when you are overseas).
