    Clerks II

    Anyone else see it?
    Caught it on saturday night, very funny in places, some of the funniest lines I've ever heard actually, and very slow and paced in other places. Smith has stated this is his views on turning 30, becoming a dad and moving on with his life, and this is obvious in the film's plot - Dante is moving to Florida to marry his fiancee and take over one of her Dad's car washing places.
    For me, Chasing Amy is his best work, and this and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back are the funniest, with the original Clerks, Dogma, Mallrats and Jersey Girl in that order filling out the list.

    The first half an hour of 'Chasing Amy' is good especially the whole whats a nubian but after that I think it goes downhill. It never had the right balance to it. For me I always rated Mallrats higher and it never got the credit it deserved. C'mon how could anyone not love the stories about cousin Walt. Brilliant.
    Limerick 37, its so shiny and new we dare not take the cover off.

    Mallrats has improved with age - it was savaged on initial release, and there's an extra on the Chasing Amy DVD with Holden and Banky in a comic book store that is basically Smith saying fcuk you to all those who doubted him after Mallrats, that Clerks was a one off.
    But Jay and Silent Bob and Clerks I and II are still funnier, Chasing Amy is still Smith's best overall film. The scene in the nightclub when Alyssa stops singing and runs down to Holden in the crowd is priceless!

    <EDIT>

    This end of scene is what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkyvD12XVmI
    SPOILER ALERT: This reveals a fairly major plot point, if you haven't seen Chasing Amy, you might want to skip it.

    Very funny in places - the donkey bit (I won't spoilt it for us) is shocking.

    Thought Clerks 2 was much better than I expected, very funny in places. Also loved Jay & Silent Bob strike back. Great stoner flick.
